Zeknova (ゼクノヴァ, Zekunova^?) is a mysterious incident happened in Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX.

Overview

Seemingly a serious explosion-implosion suspected to have been caused by a runaway in the Psycommu system, in truth it is a interdimensional rift caused by instability in resonance between two Alpha Psycommus, one within the Red Gundam, the other within a mobile armor intended to be equipped with it but was never built . This results in the boundaries between universe breaks down and matter-energy exchange occurs.

When it occurs, Kira-Kira, normally only exists in the minds of Newtype, manifests in physical space as a swirling light-sphere, due to its reaction to Minovsky Particles. While the version that originated from GQX's world generate a magenta hue with a particle-draw aspect, when the originator is due to objects from the other side, such as the one that caused the first known Zeknova incident, it has a green hue with particle-emitting aspect. The magenta-colored Zeknova has mass-energy flow from GQX's universe to the other side, while green-hued Zeknova has mass-energy flowing from the other side to GQX's universe. Due to the fact that Zeknova is generated by Newtype mind, memories can affect others who are within it. For example, when Char Aznable was hit with Zeknova in 0085, his clothing was transformed back to his red officer uniform of 0079.

A way to confirm the Magenta-hued Zeknova is by detecting "Minovsky particles Phase reversal", where various reading (including particle flow velocity and direction) goes from the value of +1 to negative infinite, while Energy Distribution SAIP scope detect massive outburst. Once its over, anything that was within the light sphere just disappear without a trace, as if a section is simply erased.. The green-hued Zeknova also can be detected by the same method, except particle flow velocity and direction is positive infinite.

On a large scale Zeknova, dimensional manipulation effects such as gravitational pull and spatial transference can also be observed.

History

UC 0079

The first Zeknova occurred when Rose of Sharon appeared in Universal Century (GQ), in cislunar orbit, then under Zeon's control. Due to coming from the other universe, it emit a green hue. In order to study the Rose, the fact that it was also a Zeknova incident was not recorded.

The first recorded Zeknova happened after Char Aznable encountered a physically manifesting Kira-Kira. Not only it took away a huge chunk of the Space Fortress Solomon (Confeito), but also Char who was inside the fortress at the time.. This Zeknova incident led to all psycommu weapons being made prohibited, and existing Psycommu systems having strict restrictions, in fear of the incident happening again.

UC 0085

As Shūji Itō and Nyaan were hiding from Side 6 Military Police, Shūji said the Gundam told him that the "Rose" was awakening. The Red Gundam's user interface lit up, just like it did back in UC 0079. Sodon received the symptoms of its occurance, and Rassit feared the incident would punch a hole right through Izuma colony. However, following a Kira-Kira, a smaller scale magenta Zeknova explosion happened. The Red Gundam and Shūji disappeared along with it.

Since Nyaan was near the Zeknova when it happened, Kycilia recruited her in hopes of having her trigger another one. Kycilia then had the Solar Ray's cannon system adjusted to be controllable with the gMS-κ GFreD and Nyaan was able to manually create a full-scale Zeknova, capable of destroying the A Baoa Qu, using the Rose of Sharon's power.

Upon the removal of the limiter-interface from Rose of Sharon, the Red Gundam was redeposited in GQX universe. Soon, Shūji reappeared, and from a green-Zeknova, the RX-78-2 Gundam appeared from the other side. After Amate defeated it, the girl within the Rose of Sharon woke up and triggered a massive Zeknova by herself, bringing the Gundam with her back to their original world.

• The aspect of reality portals generate an inflow/outflow of Minovsky particle between two realities is similar to how quantum portal works in Star Trek, in that conservation of energy will generate dissipation of additional energy from one universe to another, and failure to account for that can create issues in the fabric of reality.
  • According to Enokido, "small Zeknovas" are a frequent occurrence in the GQ world. This is similar to what happen in Star Trek, when an imperfect qunatum reality drive failed to account for dissipation of additional energy and thus generate a second set of rifts randomlly when the primary rifts was made to account for the reality's matter-energy being pushed out.
  • Green Zeknova's ability to change Char's appearance is similar to Star Trek's Schrödinger possibility field, a type of multiversal energy field which remapped matter into other possibilities from the multiverse. In the case of sentient lifeforms, one could be transformed into a parallel universe variant.
• Zeknova is similar to the "Axis Shock" and Psycho Field, in that the Psycommu system acted up, resulting in the falling asteroid fortress moved away from its orbit and saved its intended target; both also result in the disappearance of Char Aznable.
• The green Zeknova and the magenta Zeknova are complementary colors on RGB and CMYK color wheel.
