Disambiguation:

The ZAS-MI11, also known as the MI-11 Thermonuclear Reactor (MI-11 熱核反応炉?) or just MI11, is a thermonuclear reactor mentioned in the Gundam Century book [1]p. 34[1]p. 36[2]pp. 34-36.

Overview[]

In August U.C. 0078, the MS-06, with the new ZAS-MI11 thermonuclear reactor, was developed. The output of the MI11 was much higher than the 5,700 hp of the MI8B, at 12,300 hp [note 1], and a new type of space cooling system was installed accordingly [1]p. 36.

In the conventional type, the engine was cooled in space by having the liquid hydrogen used as rocket fuel absorb the heat and expel it outside the machine when the rockets were fired, but as long as this method was relied on, the engine would overheat within a few minutes, unless the thermonuclear reactor's output was reduced to match the consumption of rocket fuel [1]p. 36.

On the other hand, the cooling system of the MS-06 was revolutionary in having the waste heat concentrated around the thermonuclear reactor and high-energy weapon be dispersed and absorbed throughout the mobile suit's body structure by high-performance heat conductors. The mobile suit's body could heat up to several 100ºC during combat when this system was used. After returning, cooling inside its spacecraft was required [1]p. 36.
