Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, born December 9, 1947, is a Japanese animator and artist who has been involved in several Gundam productions.

Gundam Productions[]

Yasuhiko acted as the character designer for the original Mobile Suit Gundam and acted as animation director for 16 episodes (1-3, 6-7, 9-10, 13, 17, 22, 24, 26 and 29 - 31). He returned as character designer for Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam six years later. Yasuhiko was replaced as character designer by Hiroyuki Kitazume for the next two Gundam productions, Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ and Char's Counterattack but returned in 1991 for Mobile Suit Gundam F91.

Beginning in 2002, Yasuhiko began a manga adaption of Mobile Suit Gundam, titled Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. Yasuhiko acted as both writer and illustrator for the manga, which was serialized in the magazine Gundam Ace. It was reported on April 29, 2018 that Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin would be Yasuhiko's last anime.[1]

Other Works[]

Yasuhiko has acted as character designer for several other Sunrise mecha anime in the 1970s including Brave Raideen, Combattler V and Zambot 3. He also did character design for Wandering Sun, Zero Tester, The Adventures of the Little Prince, Shiroi Kiba White Fang Monogatari and Crusher Joe. He was also original creator of series including Giant Gorg and Venus Wars.
