Yomagn'tho Blockade is the tenth episode of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. It was released worldwide on June 11, 2025.

Synopsis[]

To stop Yomagn'tho from causing destruction, Machu takes on a mission from Challia Bull to rescue the girl of rose. However, Kycilia makes her move first. Nyaan’s mobile suit, the GFreD, begins activating the Zeknova cannon. Its target: all of humanity on Earth—

Plot[]

The Principality of Zeon prepares for the unveiling of the Solar Ray Yomagn'tho, purported to be a large scale device to restore Earth's devastated surface. A squadron from Zeon's National Defense Force is summoned to guard the device alongside Kycilia's forces. Challia and Amate return from a training session outside of the immediate eye of the theatrics as Xavier and Nyaan prepare to sortie.

Challia reveals his past to Amate. During the One Year War, he was deployed to help collect helium-3 needed for the war effort from Jupiter, but when all allied ships' autopilot mechanisms suddenly failed, Challia grew to realize the pointlessness of it all and the horror of the war that Zeon had started. In that moment he felt that he had gained true freedom, and was prepared to kill himself had the autopilot systems not jumpstarted. He admits to Amate that he found a kindred soul in Char and saw his nihilism reflected in him. Challia gifts Amate his pistol that he planned to use to take his own life.

Kycilia meets with Chapman Jirom, Cecilia Irene, and her brother Gihren Zabi in preparation for the event. As Kycilia calls out Gihren's lack of oversight regarding the recent Federation attempt on her life, all three guests snap back at Kycilia for her apparent cowardice until they suddenly collapse, dead. Kycilia leaves the meeting room, revealing that she had poisoned the air inside, and initiates the command to blockade Yomagn'tho.

Nyaan, Xavier, and Kycilia's forces deploy, intending to wipe out the National Defense Force. Caught off-guard by the sneak attack, the National Defense Force is rendered helpless in the face of Kycilia's overwhelming offense. Once all forces are eliminated, Nyaan opens an envelope she was given by Kycilia alongside her father Degwin Zabi's pistol, instructing her to head to Yomagn'tho to start the second phase.

Realizing that Kycilia has made her move much sooner than anticipated, Challia releases Amate and commands her to awaken the Rose of Sharon by any means necessary. At Yomagn'tho, Tirza Lionni, Leo Leonni, and Shirouzu watch over the Rose of Sharon restrained in the device's core, but are interrupted when the GFreD descends from the ceiling hatch. Shirouzu, seeing the GFreD, quietly makes his escape as Nyaan destroys the Lionni's observation deck. The GFreD enters Yomagn'tho's control port and takes aim at A Baoa Qu, spurring the Rose of Sharon.

A massive Zeknova begins to form from Yomagn'tho. As A Baoa Qu's orbital velocity brings it in sight from the dark side of the Moon, it and Gihren's forces suddenly find themselves teleported to the Zeknova, where the destructive force of the phenomenon rips the base in half, killing everyone inside before vanishing without a trace. Amate, sensing the Rose of Sharon's pain and enraged by the use of the Kira-Kira for mass destruction, rushes to Yomagn'tho; Xavier and Kycilia's forces attempt to impede her, but Challia and his Kikeroga intervene, allowing Amate to head to the core. An agitated Xavier accuses Challia of being a spy all along, but Challia simply states that he desires a future where Newtypes can live as Newtypes. Amate and the GQuuuuuuX descend to Yomagn'tho's core, where they encounter the GFreD, and Amate demands to know the identity of its pilot.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • On-Air End Card: Challia Bull
  • Yomagn'tho originated from Cthulhu Mythos created by American author H. P. Lovecraft (1890–1937). Specifically, it is a malevolent Outer God who wishes nothing more than the destruction of mankind for unknown reasons. Its other name is "Feasters of the Stars".
  • The coordinates enclosed in the envelope supplied by Kycilia are, in fact, UTF-16 hexadecimal encodings for "米津玄師ハチ" (Kenshi Yonezu and his alias Hachi) and "星街すいせい" (Hoshimachi Suisei), the names of the singers of the opening and ending themes, respectively.[2]

Continuity Notes[]

Callbacks to previous Gundam series[]

Mobile Suit Gundam
  • Unlike other depictions, Zeon Zum Deikun is explicitly mentioned as having been assassinated by the Zabi family, specifically by Gihren.
  • Degwin Sodo Zabi's death is not featured in this series, but like in the original series, Kycilia accuses Gihren of killing him.
  • In both timelines, Kycilia calls Gihren naive before his death. The difference is that in the original series, Kycilia shot him in the back of the head after calling him such, while in this series, she had already poisoned the air in the room.
  • The destruction of A Baoa Qu along with a good portion of Zeon Forces by a form of Solar Ray parallel that of its destruction in the novelization.

Callbacks to GAINAX/Khara titles[]

  • The spacious Bombardment Chamber, where the Rose of Sharon is stored, is similar to Terminal Dogma in Neon Genesis Evangelion. In addition, the way GFred descends into the Bombardment Chamber is similar to the way Kaworu-controlled EVA-02 descended into Terminal Dogma.
  • The destruction of A Baoa Qu and its fleet by Zeknova is similar to the way the Space Monsters were destroyed by the black hole created by the detonation of the Exelion's Degeneracy Reactor in episode 5 of Gunbuster. The final implosion resembles that of the Black Hole Bomb in episode 6 of that series.
