Template:Infobox/Mobile Weapon Ver.2The YMS-08A High Mobility Test Type is an experimental mobile suit from the series Mobile Suit Variations.
Technology & Combat Characteristics
The Zimmad Company's design, simply code named the High Mobility Test Type, was actually very similar in design and construction to the Zeonic Company's competing model, the YMS-07A Prototype Gouf. The High Mobility Test Type featured new thruster arrays in the lower legs, which made the mobile suit capable of performing short thruster-assisted jumps, an innovation that was also featured in the Prototype Gouf.
Armaments
- 120mm Machine Gun
- A standard weapon for Zaku type mobile suits. It is a shell firing gun which does not require energy to be used, however its effectiveness against heavy armor is very limited. This model used a 100-round drum magazine.
- Heat Hawk
- An axe-shaped close combat weapon, it uses a super-heated blade to cut through the armor of enemy MS or vehicles. The thermal energy is generated by the power output of the YMS-08A's thermonuclear reactor and relayed through the MS' hands.
- Shield
- A basic arm-mounted defense armament for many mobile suits. The shield is a thick sheet of armor designed to take severe punishments that would normally destroy a mobile suit. Typically, physical shields can only take so much damage before they succumb to the pressure and break.
History
A total of five High Mobility Test Type units would be constructed by the Zimmad Company for field testing, but they proved to be incredibly expensive units to manufacture, not cost effective for the small increases in performance that the unit achieved. The High Mobility Test Type program would later be merged with Zeonic Company's MS-07 Gouf development programs. The five High Mobility Test Types that were built would later be shifted to full combat duty.

Notes & Trivia
- Despite sharing the same number as the MS-08TX Efreet, it is unknown what relationship, if any, is between the two suits.
