The YG-111 Gundam G-Self is the main mobile suit of the Gundam Reconguista in G anime series. It was initially piloted by Raraiya Akuparl and Aida Surugan but its main pilot became Bellri Zenam.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Gundam G-Self is an experimental mobile suit that makes use of the Photon Frame.[1] The glowing lights all over its body are Photon Batteries.[1] The G-Self can also release excess Photon energy when needed.[1] Without any backpacks, it can fly/hover for 45 seconds within Earth's atmosphere.[2]
Armaments[]
- Head Vulcan
- A standard issue light weapon that was primarily good for shooting down missiles and lightly armored craft. If the mobile suit was in close range combat it could be used to down an enemy units head sensors.
- Beam Saber
- Close-combat weapon with two mounted on the collar. Although the blade is slender, it can be extended and shorten, and has high cutting power. It also functions as a beam shield if it is rotated at high speed while being held.
- Beam Rifle
- The G-Self has used two different beam rifle models. The original one made by Towasanga and a new one made by the Amerian Army. The Towasanga's model is more powerful, but the Amerian model is easier to maintain.
- Shield
- The G-Self uses three shields throughout the story. The original one made by Towasanga, another one made by the Amerian Army, and a third made by Venus Globe along with the Perfect Pack. Although the Amerian model is cheaper, Towasangan model has built-in vulcan guns,[3] sliding beam absorbing reflectors,[4] and is capable of generating a photon shield to protect allies.[5]

A mobile suit built by Towasanga, the YG-111 is actually made according to the Rose of Hermes' blueprints belonging to House Rayhunton. Although Lorucca Biskes and Miraji Barbaros successfully built the machine perfectly according to the blueprints, even they don't fully understand all of its functions. As the YG-111 design lost to the Moran in a competition, only a single prototype exists. This prototype was used for an Earth survey mission with Raraiya Akuparl assigned as its pilot. However, the Rayhunton loyalists installed the Rayhunton Code, biological data of Rayhunton's two missing children, into the YG-111 and gave it a secret mission to locate and protect them.
After the YG-111 was captured by Megafauna's crew, Aida Surugan notices its resemblance to the MSAM-033 Gundam G-Arcane and decides to call it "G-Self".

Notes and Trivia[]
- The G-Self has the same head height as the original RX-78-2 Gundam.
- On October 2nd, 2017, the Japanese website Gundam.info announced that the G-Self won an online census, where fans voted for a future entry in the Ver. Ka subline of Master Grade Gunpla. [6]. There has been no follow-up information regarding an MG G-Self from Bandai ever since.
- Among the winners for the "Potential Gunpla Treatment"-based censuses, the G-Self is infamously known for not having its MG iteration being potentially produced upon topping 1st place.
