Xavier Olivette (エグザベ・オリベ Eguzabe Oribe?) is a character introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX.

Background Information[]

A Second Lieutenant in the Principality of Zeon. Olivette graduated at the top of his class from the Flanagan School.[1]

Olivette is a highly-skilled pilot, despite not being able to activate the Omega Psycommu installed on the gMS-Ω GQuuuuuuX, he manages to go toe-to-toe with Shūji Itō, who has no problem piloting the gMS-α Red Gundam and its Bits.[2][3]

History[]

Formerly a refugee from Loum, he eventually joined the Principality of Zeon army as a Newtype under Challia Bull. He is the original pilot of the gMS-Ω GQuuuuuuX, however, during his secret mission at Side 6 to chase after the Red Gundam, not only he couldn't activate the Omega Psycommu, he also lost the Gundam to Amate Yuzuriha.[2][3] He was detained by Side 6 Military Police, underwent some roughhousing in the process, and was later bailed out by Challia.[2]

Later, Xavier insisted on investigating the stolen GQuuuuuuX all by himself. Though, it is quite the impossible feat considering Side 6's authorities don't even have an estimate of how many unregistered mobile suits are working in their airspace and the whole thing is basically a lawless frontier. Xavier has gotten more beat ups during his investigation while talking to these less than lawful folks. He also met up with Asset, a subordinate of Kycilia Zabi, to report on his progress and was cautioned by him to not trust Challia, as Kycilia suspected the GQuuuuuuX's theft was orchestrated by the Lieutenant Colonel himself. While lamenting his lack of progress, Xavier saw Amate and Nyaan heading to the next Clan Battle and suspected Amate was the theft he was looking for. As the two girls were separated due to police chasing after them, he grabbed Amate and forced her into a locker, effectively protecting her from the police but at the same time trapping her to confirm if she really was the GQuuuuuuX's current pilot. His plan was foiled, however, due to Nyaan piloting it in Amate's place to avoid the penalty fees for not showing up.[4]

During another of their meet up, Xavier was informed by Asset that he had been tailed by a military police member. Asset explained that everyone was being on edge because Challia's mobile armor, the MAN-03 Kikeroga, had been brought into the buffer zone during such a sensitive time. Xavier was warned not to trust Challia again before being given a direct order from Kycilia. Afterward, he was cornered by Chaichi and Ward, who planned to kill him to show that Side 6 was serious about keeping a neutral stand instead of getting involved with the Zabi family's internal conflict. However, Challia appeared and shot them dead before they could. As Challia made plans to deal with Side 6, Xavier wondered if he could kill his superior should that man really meant harm to Kycilia.[5]

Notes & Trivia[]

  • In the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- movie, Side 6's military police was able to identify him with his full name upon first contact in the underground airlock tunnel[2]. However, in the TV series, only his pilot suit was identified (Zeon Forces Normal Suit, Latest Adapted Model).[3]
  • His rank in the official English translation is Ensign,[6] which is the Naval equivalent of an Army Second Lieutenant.
