Wald Ren is a character appearing in the movie, Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island.
Background[]
He is the second-in-command of the Southern Cross and is the sniper in his unit. He is an expert marksman with his modified anti-ship rifle.
History[]
Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island[]
In the past, Wald serves as a member of Cucuruz Doan's Southern Cross Corps prior to the the latter's defection.
In the present, Wald and the rest of the Southern Cross Corps members, now led by Egba Alter, participated at the battle of Casablanca. Wald took down two GMs while assisting the Commander and stealing Yun Sanho's kill as he was believed to be struggling. After the battle, Wald and the rest of the members had a small talk until Danan Rashica mentioned Doan, which outraged Egba.
Wald and the rest of the Southern Cross Corps members later participated at the search mission on Alegranza, where the team was ordered to search the Ballistic Missile hidden on the island. Both him and Sanho's Zaku rode on the Lugguns, and they're intercepted by the Core Booster piloted by Sayla Mass, with Sleggar Law's GM on board. Both of the Mobile Suits dove underwater, and managed to snuck underneath the hidden base. Wald put Sanho on guard duty while he successfully activates the missile's launch countdown manually. After the RX-78-02 Gundam has been activated by Amuro Ray, Wald intends to run away from the white Mobile Suit, only to be squashed by it.
Though succeeded on launching the Ballistic Missile, Wald's sacrifice was in vain as the missiles he launched ends up exploding mid-air instead of targeting the cities.

- Wald Ren's Japanese voice actor, Yoji Ueda, also voices Joshua Stein in Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance as well as Kenanji Avery in Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury PROLOGUE.
