Venus (金星 Kinboshi?) is the second planet from the Sun in the Solar System, and is often considered the nearest planet to Earth. It is visible from Earth's surface with the naked eye and, aside from the Sun and Moon, is the brightest object in the sky, so it is often referred to as the "morning/evening star." It is the planet most similar to Earth in size and has a similar density, but its atmosphere is over fifty times denser. Venus's atmosphere is mainly composed of carbon dioxide and low quantities of nitrogen, and due to the planet's dense cloud cover—combined with its proximity to the sun—it is the hottest planet. Venus has no moons. Denizens of Venus would be called "Venusians."

Unlike the planets further from the Sun, Venus had not featured in any story settings in Gundam until more recently, being visited for the first time in Gundam Reconguista in G, but featured as the setting of the mobile game Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS Urdr-Hunt.

After Colony[]

Venus is mentioned only in passing, but it is one of the locations Captain Broden considers establishing a new base once his OZ remnants capture the asteroid Vulkanus to later challenge Earth. However, Broden was assassinated by the Perfect Peace People in AC 196 before that could be carried out, and control over the asteroid-based Mobile Doll factory was ultimately assumed by the Gundam pilots. With the government grappling with disarmament, Quatre Raberba Winner suggests sending the Gundams into the Sun aboard Vulkanus as a good faith gesture, and four of the five agree.

When the Gundams were desperately needed again to counter Mariemaia's Rebellion in December, Quatre and his Maganac Corps launched a dangerous mission to retrieve the Gundam disposal block, which at this point was still fifty days from the orbit of Venus, and to return it to Earth. Burning most of their ship's fuel to catch up with the asteroid just long enough to deposit a one-man boarding party, the Maganac Corp's ship would have to rely on Venus's gravity to slingshot their ship back towards Earth some time in early 197.

Cosmic Era[]

During the battle between the GSX-401FW Stargazer Gundam and the GAT-X105E Strike Noir Gundam, Selene McGriff would eject her copilot, Sol Ryuune L'ange, and used the Stargazer's "Voiture Lumiere" Propulsion System to blast both her unit and Sven Cal Bayang's Strike Noir to Venus's vicinity. With the Strike Noir crippled and the Stargazer out of power, Selene brought Sven into the Stargazer's cockpit after siphoning the Strike Noir's remaining battery, and the pair would ingest a drug that would knock them out and help conserve their remaining oxygen as the Stargazer began to make its return trip back to Earth. °

Post Disaster[]

Venus was considered for colonization before the Calamity War, but ultimately lost out in favor of terraforming Mars. Some limited terraforming was performed, but the Earth's four economic blocs gradually lost interest in Venus. There is very little in the Venusian Sphere besides a backwater Gjallarhorn orbital base and Radonitsa Colony, whose primary use is now as a penal colony managed by Afam Equipment. Colonists there struggle to get official ID documentation issued from Earth, and young colonists leave for better opportunity elsewhere, so the population is in steady decline. In P.D. 323, several participants in the "Urdr-Hunt" travel to Venus.

Regild Century[]

The Venus Globe is a cluster of space colonies near Venus. Here Photon Batteries are produced, which are transported to Earth by the Hermes Foundation.
