Un'no (ウン・ノウ Un Nō?) is a character introduced in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray R. He reappeared in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED VS Astray and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Astray B.
Personality & Character[]
A cantankerous old man who lives on a satellite, called the Graveyard, in the debris belt around the Earth. The Graveyard had become a gathering place for master craftmen who were no longer appreciated by the modern world. Now, the last remaining residents, Un'no and his dog, Denpachi, watch over the graves of the other artisans who spent their final days there, and act as defenders of all of the crafting knowledge of bygone eras. He has successfully fended off several attacks by thieves looking to steal that knowledge.
Skills & Abilities[]
Despite his old age, he is a swordsman with tremendous swordsmanship and physical abilities. His GINN is a restored scrap piece, and retains the original operating system that is designed for use by Coordinators. However, by using only the "sword swinging motion" of the operating system, he is able to pilot his GINN despite being a Natural.

History[]
SEED Astray R[]
When the Junk Guild technician Lowe Guele came to the Graveyard looking for a mobile suit-sized sword called the "Gerbera Straight", he was attacked by Un'no, who believed him to be just another looter. After the misunderstanding was cleared, Un'no calls him a fool and tries to evade him. But Lowe manages to catch up to him, and he tells Lowe that the "Gerbera Straight" had been badly damaged six months prior while fending off a ZAFT attack, and with the great masters now dead there was no one left who could repair it. Lowe asked for his help in repairing it and Un'no gradually warmed to him, training Lowe in sword styles while they worked to repair the "Gerbera Straight".
After the "Gerbera Straight" was shattered in battle by Rondo Gina Sahaku's MBF-P01-ReAMATU Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu, Lowe must reforge it. He returns to Un'no, however he has fallen ill. Un'no insists he is fine and challenges Lowe to a duel, which Lowe wins, and Un'no bestows upon Lowe the rank "Sword of the Master". Lowe says he plans to forge a giant sword using rare metals from a meteor he discovered, and Un'no laughs, saying he's glad that fools like Lowe still exist in the world. A squad of ZAFT's ZGMF-600 GuAIZs attack the Graveyard to steal the rare metal from the Junk Guild and Un'no sorties in his ZGMF-1017 Un'no's GINN to repel them, but is shot down by a beam rifle shot. Lowe destroys the GuAIZs with his newly crafted "150 Gerbera Straight", and goes to help Un'no, but he was fatally injured. Un'no tells Lowe he was going to die anyway, and as a final request asks him to delete all of the data from the artisans at the Graveyard, confident the knowledge would live on inside of Lowe. He thanks Lowe for coming to visit him one last time before he dies.
SEED Destiny Astray B[]
Together with a replica MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame, a mysterious young Un'no affilated with the organization Librarian Works appeared in an abandoned colony at Lagrange 4. Informed by the secret organization The Clan, Dante Gordigiani arrives at the colony to seek the young Un'no's help in crafting replacement blades for his MBF-P0X Gundam Astray Noir's Sword Pistols. The pair then duel twice, once with their mobile suits, and then on foot. Un'no comes to like Dante and agrees to the latter's request, after receiving permission from his superior, the Supreme Librarian designate, Prayer Reverie.
VS Astray[]
The young Un'no affilated with Librarian Works is actually a Carbon Human - a human modified to look, behave and have the memories of another individual through various methods, such as genetic modifications, implanting memories, etc. This Carbon Human Un'no is meant to replicate the original Un'no in his prime. Despite being a young man, others in the organization still refer to him as 'Grandpa'. Piloting the replica Red Frame armed with the katana "Tiger Pierce", he and ND HE confront Lowe Guele and demand he surrender to Librarian Works, but Lowe refuses. Un'no then fought Lowe, but was defeated, he was then rescued by ND HE and they retreated.
Un'no later engaged Lily Thevalley's LN-GAT-X207 Nebula Blitz Gundam to test if she is ready for her next mission, and she effortlessly defeated his ZGMF-1017M2 GINN High Maneuver Type II. Un'no remains at the Librarian Work's headquarters until the organization's collapse. He later reveals to Lowe that he was secretly in negotiations with Ergnes Brahe to send the Carbon Human noncombatants to live on Mars. With no other purpose, he heads back to the Graveyard to pass on the lost technology left behind there to future generations, reuniting with Denpachi.
