Tianem (ティアンム, Tianem^?) is a character that appears in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin and its OVA adaptation.

History

Serving as one of the Earth Federation's admirals, Tianem spearheaded the ill-fated defense during Operation British where anti-beam coating placed on the Island Iffish rendered most attacks of Tianem's fleet ineffective. Despite this, Tianem had at least altered Island Iffish's trajectory, preventing Jaburo's destruction but was unable to stop its massive debris from causing permanent worldwide damage.

Eager to avenge his defeat, Tianem leads his fleet alongside Johann Ibrahim Revil's to the contested Side 5, serving as the vanguard in the attack on the Principality of Zeon. Tianem encounters Dozle Zabi's forces and gives chase after firing at their rear guard but eventually loses track of them and heads towards Side 3 to attack Zeon itself. Before he can commence, however, he is stunned to learn that he had been pulled too far from Revil's forces, which were simultaneously attacked by both Dozle and Zeon's new mobile suit army. Despite having the opportunity to potentially finish Zeon by himself, Tianem declares the battle lost and rescues the survivors of Revil's fleet.

Tianem continued to function in space as the Federation gradually retook the tide of the war. Requiring a staging point, Tianem is ordered to attack Dozle's fortress of Solomon where a bloody defense from Dozle's forces was waiting. Fortunately, inner politics in Zeon, particularly between Dozle's siblings Gihren and Kycilia prevent reinforcements from coming to Solomon's defense, and Tianem uses the Solar Ray to guarantee Solomon's fall. Unexpectedly, Dozle has a suicide squad attack and damage the Solar Ray before sortieing on his MA-08 Big Zam to attack Tianem and buy time for the evacuation of his forces. Tianem has his entire fleet fire their beam cannons on the Big Zam, who is easily able to shrug it off using its I Field Generator. As an officer urges for Tianem to escape, Tianem refuses as he confirms their fate was already sealed.

Tianem is soon killed when the Big Zam's Mega Particle Gun destroys his ship.
