Not that any of us should raise our hopes, but we can presume that this Hathaway's Flash movie isn't going to be the exact same story as the original semi-canon novel.
They're attempting to integrate this story into canon following the events of Unicorn, Twilight Axis, & Narrative... so while it may still be "grimdark" in a sense, I don't think the fates of each HF character will be the exact same as before.
To be fair, though... I can't say I ever liked the character of Hathaway. Hopefully, this upcoming movie will change my mind.
Gustav Karl: getting their ass handed to them despite being state of the art since U.C. 0096. Hopefully they get treated better in this one, but somehow I doubt it.

I'll never forgive Hathaway for killing Chan Agi.

This version didn't. Because Chan Agi didn't exist in this continuity LOL.
The Gustav Karl will more-than-likely be outclassed either by the newer types of Jegan (shown in the F91 movie), OR the "Heavygun" which was intended to be the next successor in the GM line.
This movie will probably show the Heavygun in development at some point.

That's assuming that the HF animated adaptation 100% follows the novel entirely, which I consider exceedingly unlikely if the series is supposed to fit in the timeline of the animated Narrative and Unicorn series, which follows the animated version of Char's Counterattack.
Unicorn didn't 100% follow the novel. I find it almost guaranteed that HF will do likewise.
Now that I revisit this topic...
Does anyone else here want to see future MG kits of the Penelope & the Messer grunt-units as much as I do? :D
I feel this thread will need more activity in the coming months, especially since a new HG kit related to Hathaway's Flash was announced for June (and with improved inner-frame mechanics).
There's no doubt the movies will diverge from the novels' version of events, even if they retain the grimdark tone. This is sure to be one of the more interesting Gundam movies to watch; and, to mention the obvious, it's part of a trilogy.
I hope it becomes just popular enough, that we'll see more of the UC being expanded upon.
