The Strongest Builder is the fifth episode of Gundam Build Fighters.

Synopsis

Before the decisive battle with Tatsuya Yuki, Reiji once again goes in search of combat practice, while Sei concentrates on fine-tuning the Build Strike. China is becoming concerned that Sei is too engrossed in his work. Then, a mysterious boy named Mao Yasaka appears before the two of them. Having won the Japanese 5th Block, he has already earned a place in the World Tournament, and he says he has come to the store because he is interested in Sei, a highly skilled builder who is the same age as he is. Mao has only one goal: to determine which of them is superior as a Gunpla builder. Sei accepts his challenge, and Sei and Mao bring out their Gunpla, the Build Strike and the Gundam X Maoh. As soon as they see each other's work, Sei and Mao find themselves adrift in space...!

• When Mr. Ral shows off his High Grade 1/144 MS-07B Gouf, he says, "This is no Best Mecha Collection, boy! No Best Mecha Collection!" This is a paraphrase of Ramba Ral's quote, "This is no Zaku, boy! No Zaku!" from episode 19 of Mobile Suit Gundam.
• The episode served as an informal commercial for the High Grade Universal Century 1/144 scale LM312V04 Victory Gundam, which was released on the same month of the episode's broadcast.
• During their imagination battle, Sei and Mao are dressed as the original pilots of their machines - Sei in Kira Yamato's OMNI Enforcer pilot suit, and Mao in the usual attire of Garrod Ran.
• The scene where the Gundam X Maoh fires its Hyper Satellite Cannon is a frame-by-frame re-enactment of the scene in episode 25 of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 season 1, where the GNMS-XCVII Alvaaron fired its GN Particle Beam Cannon toward the GN-001 Gundam Exia.
• One of the background cameos is SD Gundam Gaiden's Satan Gundam, who holds the title of Maō (or 'Demon Lord') in his respective series.
• Kotono Mitsuishi, the voice of Rinko Iori, reprises the episode preview narrative style from her previous role as Murrue Ramius in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
