Solomon (ソロモン, Soromon^?), later renamed Confeito / Konpei Island (コンペイ島, Konpeitō^?), is an asteroid that has been used as a military base by both the Principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation.

History[]

One Year War[]

Solomon was one of Zeon's front-line asteroid bases, near the edge of Side 3's territory. At some point in the One Year War, the Earth Federation Forces successfully managed to seize control of Solomon, renaming it Confeito and later using it as a staging ground for later offenses. Despite the successful foothold in Zeon territory, the Federation struggled to maintain control due to a handful of skirmishes and ambushes from Zeon forces, such as the Red Gundam.

Near the end of the One Year War, the EFF planned to crash the space fortress into Granada, intending to use nuclear pulse engines to propel the colony. They had almost succeeded due to the fact that most of Zeon's forces were assaulting Luna II, though Char Aznable and the Sodon Fleet intercepted and planted explosives on the asteroid in an attempt to divert its path. Char had planned to use it to destroy the Zabi family. However, the Zeknova happened, swallowing up a chunk of Confeito and sent it off course. This led to the EFF's total loss and ended the war on Zeon's terms.^[1]^[2]

Notes & Trivia[]

The renaming of Solomon to Confeito alludes to the same name change in the original Universal Century timeline. The attempted drop on Granada may be a reference to a similar attempt by the Titans to drop Side 4's Colony 27 on Granada in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
