The International Solar Ray System is a technology in Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX.

Overview

The International Solar Ray System, officially Sunlight Amplification System For Global Environment Improvement , is a project officially proposed by Principality of Zeon's Living Sphere Strategic Committee. Officially, the purpose is to restore Earth's devastated environment due to the global cooling caused by the nuclear winter which occurred during the One Year War..

Multiple designs were implied to have been submitted, with the final approved design being the plan that comes from Side 6's Yomagn'tho Construction, under Plan Y 1 -45 (Yomagn'tho) or just Yomagn'tho, which becomes the most commonly known name. Located in the orbit of Earth, its large size allows it to be seen from Earth's surface.

In truth, Yomagn'tho is a Strategic weapon that utilized Zeknova power created by the Rose of Sharon as focused destructive loci, designed by Leo Lionni. When activated, a magenta Zeknova will be generated in both its "mouth" and the target region, which teleports the targeted region to its mouth. There, the amplified Zeknova's sheer gravitational force tear those within it apart, before taking all into its event horizon, making them disappear from the current reality. It is implied that a direct line of sight is not needed, as long as target coordinates is within "line of fire"; when fired, it can even bypass planetary objects such as the moon. Kycilia modified it to utilize the gMS-κ GFreD and Nyaan, who also managed to create a Zeknova, as a control. Its weakness is that after firing, it must cool down for a period; furthermore, the Lalah within Rose of Sharon can interfere with the firing.

The higher echelon of Zeon's military know about its true capability and had incorporated its destructive power as part of the gunboat diplomacy towards the Earth Federation. It was first used against A Baoa Qu and Zeon's National Defense Force located there, completely destroying it with a singularity.

Unknown even to Kycilia, the rest of Zeon military, and even Dr. Leo Lionni, Yomagn'tho is also modified by Char Aznable to act as a dimensional gate for the purpose of sending the Rose of Sharon and the Lalah within back to her own universe, and thus stabilize the reality. To do so, the limiter/interface that interact with the Rose must be disconnected and the time freeze destroyed, which requires gMS-Ω GQuuuuuuX utilizing Omega Psycommu Overdrive. When condition is match, the entire assembly split in half.

Notes & Trivia

• Yomagn'tho originated from Cthulhu Mythos created by American author H. P. Lovecraft (1890–1937). Specifically, it is a malevolent Outer God who wishes nothing more than the destruction of mankind for unknown reasons.
  • The logo on the project proposal depicts how it looks in the Mythos: a flaming circle with three inner-petals and an eye in the middle. The built form resembles an alternate form, which consist of three larger inner-petals and a dark interior with chaotic shapes that together forms a maw
  • The way it destroyed A Baoa Qu by a singularity - or "devouring" - is a reference to its alternate title "Feaster from the Stars".
• Its attack is similar to the way the Space Monsters were destroyed by the black hole created by the detonation of the Exelion's Degeneracy Reactor in episode 5 of Gunbuster. The final implosion resembles that of the Black Hole Bomb in episode 6 of that series.
• The coordinates enclosed in the envelope supplied by Kycilia are, in fact, UTF-16 hexadecimal encodings for "米津玄師ハチ" (Kenshi Yonezu and his alias Hachi) and "星街すいせい" (Hoshimachi Suisei), the names of the singers of the opening and ending themes, respectively.
