The Sodon Cruise Ship (ソドン巡航船?) is a spacecraft appearing in Mobile Suit Gundam [1].
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
A cruise ship used by the Principality's military during the One Year War, nearly half of the hull was made up of propellant tanks, but since the size itself is about the same as that of an MS, the cruising range was not particularly long. Because it was equipped with three twin-barreled machine guns, it was seen as an early cruise ship by some, but on the battlefield, it was often used to transport supplies over short distances (it was capable of towing three MS-06 Zaku II units). However, after the One Year War, as the cruising distance of MS themselves increased, the role of cruise ships came to be taken over entirely by MS. From a transportation standpoint, the MS itself was sufficient for short distances, so ships like the Sodon disappeared from military use [2]p. 461.
History[]
During the battle of Luna II, Char Aznable lost his subordinates Matthew and Fix, and the only operational Zaku he had left was his own. The Sodon was used to provide supplies to Char in this state, sending Crown, Kohm, and J.Q., along with three Zakus [1].
After the defeat at Solomon, the Sodon was used to transport Shin Matsunaga to rendezvous with the Gwazine carrying Mineva Lao Zabi and Zenna Zabi to Granada [3]
