The Skirmish at the Gwazine Wreckage is a conflict of the Gryps War, featured in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
Prelude[]
Following the failed Granada Colony Drop,[1] Lieutenant Commander Jamaican Daninghan ordered the Alexandria to return to Gryps to resupply. However, Lieutenant Yazan Gable sought to re-engage the AEUG by attacking the Irish-class battleship, the Radish. Jamaican allowed Yazan to carry out the attack but made it clear that he would receive no help from the Alexandria.[2]
The Battle[]
Yazan launched from the Alexandria in his ORX-005 Gaplant and a squad of four Hizacks. The Radish detected the incoming mobile suits on their approach and fired on them while the ship’s mobile suits prepared for deployment. Lieutenant Emma Sheen launched in the Gundam Mk-II with a squad of Nemos. Upon seeing the Gundam Mk-II, Yazan began a retreat, intending to draw the AEUG mobile suits away from their ship and back towards the Alexandria. Back on the Radish, Katz Kobayashi took control of the FXA-05D G-Defenser and launched into battle. Yazan charged at the Gundam Mk-II and the two machines engaged in close combat with beam sabers. Upon entering the battlefield, Katz accidentally fired a flare that, once ignited, revealed that the battle was taking place near the wreckage of a Gwazine-class battleship.[2]
Back on the Argama, Kamille Bidan sensed that his comrades were in danger and launched in the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam to reinforce them. Kamille arrived on the battlefield and quickly destroyed one of the Hizacks. Kamile damaged another Hizack, then started dogfighting with Yazan’s Gaplant. Emma and Katz then combined the Gundam Mk-II with the G-Defenser to form the RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam. Emma destroyed a Hizack with her Long Rifle while Katz’s detached cockpit fled to the Gwazine wreckage to find cover away from the Galpant.
Onboard the Radish, Lieutenant Colonel Henken Bekkener ordered it to prepare for combat with the Alexandria. The Alexandria began firing through the battlefield to attack the Radish, much to the anger of Yazan for firing on their own people. Henken ordered the Radish to remain behind the Gwazine wreckage for cover as they returned fire. Both the Zeta Gundam and the Gaplant had used up most of their energy firing their beam rifles at each other and engaged in close combat. The two machines moved their battle inside the Gwazine wreckage, and just as Yazan was about to strike the Zeta with his beam saber, Katz fired a shot from the beam rifle of a wrecked Gelgoog, destroying the Gaplants beam saber. The Zeta attacked the Galpant and sliced off its right hand, forcing Yazan to retreat.[2]
Yazan raced back to the Alexandria, making sure that the Zeta Gundam and Super Gundam were following him. Yazan positioned his Gaplant in front of the Alexandria’s bridge and waited for the Gundams to attack. Emma fired the Super Gundam’s Long Rifle, targeting the Gaplant. However, Yazan flew away at the last minute and the blast struck the Alexandria’s bridge, killing the bridge crew, including Jamaican Daninghan. The Zeta and Super Gundam then flew back to the Radish.[2]
Aftermath[]
Following Jamaican’s death, control of the Alexandria returned to Lieutenant Commander Gady Kinsey, who also took Jamaican’s former position as a Fleet Commander.[3]

Notes & Trivia[]
- Meanwhile, the abandoned Gelgoog discovered by Katz would be recovered and refurbished into a support machine for the AEUG. Despite this, the Gelgoog was never actually shown being retrieved from the Gwazine, as Kamille and Emma had already returned to the Radish by the episode's end.
