In U.C. 0093, the Earth Federation Forces established the military research organization SNRI, which later proposed the creation of a new line of highly compact mobile suits. In U.C. 0111, the Anaheim Electronics's MSA-120 Draig lost to SNRI's Formula series to be the Federation Forces' next generation of mobile suits, and the company was replaced by SNRI as Federation's premier weapons developer. Although Anaheim Electronics' services was retained due to its manufacturing expertise and was involved in mass producing SNRI's design, the company also started the Silhouette Formula Project so as not to be completely outclassed by SNRI. This project relied on stolen plans and technical data from the SNRI's Formula Series.
