The Second Battle of Victoria is a conflict of the First Alliance-PLANT War, featured in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
Prelude[]
Nearly a year prior, ZAFT had launched the First Battle of Victoria to seize control of the Victoria Base and the Earth Alliance's Mass Driver. However, under the Eurasian Federation's command, the EA's tank divisions beat back the ZAFT forces, maintaining control of the Base and Mass Driver. On January 15, C.E. 71, ZAFT attacked the EA spaceport on the island of Taiwan during the Battle of Kaohsiung. After eight days of fighting, ZAFT successfully took the Mass Driver on January 23. Having deprived the EA's Mass Drivers, ZAFT sought to capture or destroy the remaining two at Victoria and Panama, cutting off the EA's supply route to their space forces.
The Battle[]
On February 13th, around the same time as the Battle of Orbit, ZAFT launched its second attack on Victoria. This time the Earth Alliance forces could not withstand ZAFT's attack forces and in the end, ZAFT claimed victory at Victoria.[1]
Aftermath[]
With ZAFT's capture of their second mass driver, the Earth Alliance was left with their last mass driver located at Porta Panama.[1]
On June 18, the Earth Alliance launched the Third Battle of Victoria to recapture the Mass Driver, following the destruction of the Panama Mass Driver during the Battle of Porta Panama. The EA's new GAT-01 Strike Dagger mobile suit forces overwhelmed the ZAFT forces, and the EA successfully retook the base.[2]
