History[]
The Illuminati, which consisted of mostly CONSENT defectors, included a team of mobile suit engineers that had previously worked on CONSENT designs such as the CCMS-03 Bugu. After joining the Illuminati, this team, led by John Saviour, began work on new mobile suits that could combat the ones they had previously designed for CONSENT. The earliest MS in this line is the F-Saviour, which was a modified version of the old Earth Federation RGM-196 Freedom. Data gathered from this mobile suit was eventually used to develop the rest of the line of Saviour MS. These succeeding mobile suits had the same modular design concept, allowing for equipment to be swapped in between battles.
By U.C. 0223, the G-Saviour had been completed and was used by Mark Curran during the events of the G-Saviour film. The limited production Illusion (I-Saviour) had also been used by the Illuminati at this time. Following the Battle of Gaea, in U.C. 0224 the Saviour team began to work on upgrades for the G-Saviour, testing a new double-jointed frame with the G2-Saviour. This improved frame was eventually used on the G3-Saviour, the G-Saviour's repaired and upgraded form, as well as the new limited-production J-Saviours. The G3-Saviour upgrade plan was carried out by John Saviour in-person, onboard the Lightning, after the G-Saviour had been badly damaged in combat against CONSENT's CAMS-15 Raven mobile weapon.
