The Revolutionary Fleet was a revolution instigated by young officers within Gjallarhorn against the corrupt leadership of the organization in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS. It is formally known as Gjallarhorn Earth HQ Central Direction Defense Corps.[1]
Overview[]
History[]
Two years following the Battle of Edmonton, Gjallarhorn enters into a period of instability. With their shield of neutrality gone, the organization lost much of its respect and trustworthiness in the eyes of the world. The situation eventually devolves into a full-blown civil war, with McGillis Fareed and his allies rising in revolt against the Seven Stars. He is opposed by the Arianrhod Fleet and its commander, Rustal Elion. Despite capturing Gjallarhorn headquarters, taking a number of the Seven Stars hostage, as well as claiming Gundam Bael for himself, McGillis' treachery against Gjallarhorn was exposed by Gaelio Bauduin, and the remaining heads of the Seven Stars remained neutral until they saw a clear victor.
Because of this, the Revolutionary Fleet, joined by Tekkadan, marched against Rustal's Arianrhod Fleet. Rustal, however, snuck a spy into the Revolutionary Fleet's ranks and intentionally fired a Dáinsleif at his own fleet to give himself the excuse to use the weapon. Despite this, Rustal focused only on demoralizing the Revolutionary Fleet, as he felt their loyalty was suspect, and destroyed a large chunk of Tekkadan's forces instead. McGillis departed with Bael to try and rejuvenate morale while Tekkadan made a desparate suicide attack to try and claim Rustal's head. Both areas failed as McGillis dueled against Gaelio's ASW-G-66 Gundam Kimaris Vidar and eventually lost, while Tekkadan's attempt was disrupted by Julieta Juris and they were forced to retreat.
McGillis successfully escaped thanks to the sacrifice of Isurugi Camice's V08Re-0526 Helmwige Reincar, but his defeat caused the Seven Stars to join Rustal's side, while many on McGillis' side surrendered. Believing his road to the top required him to walk alone, McGillis dismissed his remaining loyalists and made a lone charge against Rustal. He and Gaelio would duel a second time, and Gaelio would again emerge the victor, fatally shooting McGillis after they were forced to abandon their mobile suits.
