The RX-79[G]F Slyfrail is a customized RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type introduced in the video game Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. ENGAGE.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
During the One Year War, more than 20 RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type were produced based on surplus parts from the RX-78 and deployed to the Southeast Asia front and throughout Eurasia. But, with the deployment and operation of the RGM-79 GM, the supplies for the RX-79[G] were curtailed. Despite that, based on the supply parts that remained, the RX-79[G] underwent modifications to suit the traits of its front, thanks to the wisdom and ingenuity of on-site engineers, and was said to have been in operation until a new model replaced it.
One such unit, the RX-79[G]F Slyfrail, was remodelled expecting covert operations in remote areas like wetlands and forested areas. The mobile suit was repainted with a highly concealable green color to suit combat in forests with dense foliage. The weight of the backpack was also reduced. In addition, at the pilot’s request, a beam javelin, which resembles a four-pronged staff for warding off obstacles, is equipped on an added rack on either hip. The two can be connected to form a long beam javelin.
Armaments[]
- 35mm Machine Gun
- A pair of shell-firing armament built into the head, that are also known as "35mm Vulcan Guns". Although the caliber of the guns is smaller than usual, they are effective in restricting enemy movements as the head's movable structure allows them to have a wide angle of fire. A casing exit is located on the side of the head.
- BLASH XBR-M-79E Beam Rifle
- A beam rifle developed by the Blash Corporation upon the request of the Earth Federation Ground Forces, who were unsatisfied with the performance of the M-79C-1 Beam Spray Gun. It is primary for use in atmospheric conditions and is a redesign of the RX-78-2 Gundam's XBR-M-79-07G beam rifle. Instead of the 79-07G's large movable sensor, this rifle is fitted with the BP-SS-001 composite box-type sensor system utilized on the BR-M-79C-3 Beam Spray Gun and licensed from BOWA Corporation, granting the weapon improved targeting precision. The weapon can snipe targets 10 kilometers away, but the accuracy is extremely low, requiring experience and advanced skill to land a hit. Three of these can be stored in the weapon container carried by the mobile suit.
- Beam Javelin
- A spear-like weapon with several beam blades near the tip. This javelin is comprised of 4 beam sabers mounted on one end of a long handle/rail. Thanks to the javelin's long handle/rail, the weapon has a longer range compared to other melee beam-based weaponry like beam sabers, providing a considerable advantage in close-quarters combat. Thanks to its spear-like silhouette, the javelin can be utilized as a throwing weapon. Unlike the one used by the RGM-86R GM III, this javelin's base is designed to break down into 4 smaller segments.
- X.B.Sa-G-03 Beam Saber
- The beam saber is a small device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. It emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-Field and can cut through most armor not treated with anti-beam coating. The RX-79[G]F Slyfrail has 4 beam sabers, one stored in a charging compartment on either side of the backpack, and another pair stored in the calf segment of the Slyfrail's legs. This charging segment of the Slyfrail's backpack imitates that of the original RX-78-2 Gundam.
- Hand Grenade[Stick]
- The RX-79 [G]F Slyfrail's loadout also consists of several "sticky" hand grenades. As stated, the hand grenade found in the Slyfrail's loadout is treated with a special coating that allows it to stick to most, if not all, surfaces.
