The RX-79[G]Ez-SR3 Gundam Ez-SR Shadow Phantom (aka Ez-SR3 Shadow Phantom, Ez-SR Shadow Phantom, Shadow Phantom) is a Gunpla introduced in the anime Gundam Build Fighters Try. It is piloted by Yukio Okamoto.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
One of three Gundam Ez-SRs used by the Seiren Technical College Science Club's "Team SRSC", all three Gunplas are modified version of the Gundam Ez8 from the Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team. The Shadow Phantom is designed for information warfare, and is equipped with specialized equipment such as a backpack-mounted radome and a sensor built into its shield. Its role in the team is to collect and transmit information on the opponents to the Intruder and Eliminator, facilitating their attacks. The Shadow Phantom can also disrupt the opponents' commuication system through its communication jammers, hindering their coordination. To ensure Team SRSC's communication is unaffected by the jamming, the Shadow Phantom will link up with its teammates via communication wires. The Gunpla also has the ability to fly due to its Plavsky Craft.
Armaments[]
- Swivel Vulcan
- Common to the three Gundam Ez-SRs, this shell-firing weapon is installed in the center bottom of the chest and its barrel can swivel up and down. The Swivel Vulcan is effective in destroying enemy sensors, etc.
- Beam Rifle
- The same beam firearm as used by the Gundam Ez8. Due to the Shadow Phantom's powerful sensing capabilities, the beam rifle has high firing accuracy.
- Shield
- Mounted on the Shadow Phantom's left forearm, it is equipped with a sensor known as "Shield Sensor". By pointing this sensor at the opponent, information can be collected with pinpoint accuracy.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Communication Jammer
- A total of six communication jammer units are stored on the Shadow Phantom, three on each shoulder. When in use, the jammers will launch from the suit and each unit will position itself over a designated point. The jammers will then release numerous small square-shaped communication jamming bugs and hover over the area, forming a communication jamming system.
- Communication Wire
- Launched from the rear of the Shadow Phantom's shoulder armor and attached to the Intruder and Eliminator, these pair of wires allows the Team SRSC to maintain communication while in the communication jamming area.
- Plavsky Craft
- A propulsion system that allows a non-flight type mobile suit to have the same aerial capabilities as flight type mobile suit or mobile armor.
- Radome
- Mounted on the backpack, this disc-shaped sensor unit helps the Shadow Phantom gather data on the enemy units. When in use, the radome will flip up and link with the head unit.
History[]
Gundam Build Fighters Try Episode Six[]
Used by Team SRSC in a battle against Team Try Fighters. The team initially overwhelmed the Try Fighters with their coordinated tactics, where each member had a clearly defined role. However, the situation was overturned by the Winning Gundam's gimmick and the Build Burning Gundam's powerful ground attack. The Shadow Phantom then came under attack from Winning Gundam's Core Fighter and was defeated.

- The RX-79[G]Ez-SR3 Gundam Ez-SR Shadow Phantom's design may be a reference to Dragonar Unit-3 from the anime Metal Armor Dragonar.
- The letters "SR" in the suit's name and model code stands for "Seiren", the name of the team's technical college. They may also be a reference to the model number XD-01SR of Dragonar-1 Custom from the anime Metal Armor Dragonar.
- Ez-SR Shadow Phantom carries a pair of 100mm Machine Gun magazines on its side skirt armor despite not using any compatible weapons. This is most likely because it uses the same side skirt armor as the the Gundam Ez8.
- Like other Gundam Ez-SR, the Shadow Phantom is named after a motorcycle - Honda Shadow Phantom.
- The three Gundam Ez-SR are Naoki's first design for animated work.
