The RX-78MS00Z-B Engage Zero Additional Booster Equipment Type (エンゲージゼロ・追加ブースター装備型 Engēji Zero Tsuika Būsutā Sōbi-gata?) is a mobile suit first introduced in the smartphone game Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. ENGAGE.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

A form in which an additional booster pod with large thrust is attached to the Engage Zero, which was developed as a following machine to the "Gundam Development Project". The Engage Zero, which happened to be put into actual combat, was considered to require even more mobility for the mopping-up operation of terrorist units made up of remnants of the former Zeon military.

At the suggestion of the development staff, it was decided to equip the additional booster pod with a high thrust on the back but, in exchange for its explosive acceleration performance, it has become a machine that causes its pilot to faint unless they have high G-resistance. As a result, although it became possible to deal with the hit-and-run tactics of the terrorist units, even Peche, who has experience in high-mobility combat with mobile armors, was limited to three minutes of operating time after the booster was ignited.

Armaments[]

  • 60mm Vulcan Gun
  • Beam Saber
  • Beam Rifle
  • Shield

Special Equipment & Features[]

  • Magnet Coating
A special treatment applied to mobile suit joints to improve their response speed. The mobile suits developed by the Earth Federation Forces use special actuators called field motors, which have their efficiency increased by the magnet coating process. The treatment also reduces friction resistance in the mobile suit's joints, reducing wear.
  • Trial Movable Frame
The Engage Zero was a testbed for the new movable frame concept. With this new technology, rather than merely serving as a structural framework, the movable frame incorporates all the mobile suit's vital mechanisms, including the actuators and control systems required for movement, and excludes the mobile suit's weapons, armor, and propellant tanks. This approach dramatically improves the mobile suit's responsiveness, reliability, and energy efficiency, as well as making it far more agile than traditional designs.
  • Booster Equipment
A newly designed booster pod that entirely replaces the Engage Zero's standard backpack. Designed with the sole purpose of immense speed, four large thrusters provide immense acceleration but this could cause its pilot to faint unless they have high G-resistance. Despite being a seasoned pilot of high-mobility mobile armors, Peche Montagne was limited by the development team to three minutes of operating time after the booster was ignited.

History[]

Peche Montagne, a test pilot for Anaheim Electronics, was assigned by O'Sullivan to assist the Earth Federation Forces in mopping up raids by Zeon remnants on the Moon in 0082, but did not have enough speed to contend with the terrorist's High Mobility Kämpfer on their first encounter. Once equipped with the Additional Booster Equipment, the Engage Zero was able to match with the High Mobility Kämpfer's speed, and was able to disable it in combat, however its pilot, Michelle Kano – whom Peche had previously met at Kelley Layzner's junkyard – refused to surrender. Exiting the cockpit, Michelle attempted to attack the Engage Zero with a man-portable rocket launcher, but she was killed before she could fire it by the Kämpfer's explosion and its remnants fell down into a deep lunar valley.

Despite the Engage Zero's success in live combat, the unit was passed over by the Federation in favor of the Gundam Development Project. But O'Sullivan had other contacts within the Federation who had other ideas for the Engage Zero, and he had been sending data to the Augusta Research Institute in secret hoping to have a hand in restarting the "Bishop Plan". In the aftermath of the Delaz Conflict, the Gundam Development Project was frozen and a cover-up began. The Engage Zero was deregistered and sent to the Federation Force's Augusta Research Institute, where it was refurbished as an experimental Psycommu machine.
