Technology & Combat Characteristics
The Zephyr Gundam is considered to be the first MS in the Universal Century timeline to be equipped with an Artificial intelligence system. At some point after the end of the One Year War, the EFSF commissioned doctor Waihama Caines to create the Zephyr Gundam, both supervising the assembly of the frame, and overseeing the development of the AI unit installed aboard the Zephyr Gundam which provided motor control, target detection and attack functions, and allowed for the execution of simple commands. An interesting feature of the AI was its ability to learn at an exponential rate, and eventually developing thoughts akin to human emotion. The evaluation unit was based upon the frame of the RX-78-2 Gundam, and it is speculated that their combat performance is nearly identical, however, the Zephyr Gundam is capable of dangerous maneuvers and disregarding G-forces that would be detrimental to a human pilot's health. Some equipment options have been developed for this machine: a Full Armor mode for increased defense, and a Flight Armor option for quick deployment to a designated target space.
