The RX-78-01[N] Gundam Local Type (RX-78-01[N] 局地型ガンダム^?), is a Mobile Suit appearing in Mobile Suit Discovery.

Technology & Combat Characteristics[]

With a height of 18.0m ^[1], the RX-78-01[N] Gundam Local Type features a red visor for dust and flash protection covering the head camera. Unnecessary space-use equipment is removed in favor of a backpack with built-in hydrojets for underwater combat. Sealing treatment and waterproofing are applied to each joint part.

Armament[]

Machine Gun: A firearm for mobile suits developed by Yashima Heavy Industrial. An improved production model was later used by other mobile suits.

Beam Saber: A close combat armament, its blade-shaped beam can instantaneously cut through the armor of a mobile suits. Two beam sabers can be mounted on the left forearm, and when the mobile suit is using the shield, these two beam sabers are mounted on the shield's underside.

Shield: A compact shield for close combat that can be mounted on the left forearm, it has a bipod at the back. Two beam sabers can be stored on the underside as well.

History[]

The the original Gundam Local Type was given a new color scheme and equipped with underwater equipment for offshore testing. It would contribute to the development of the RAG-79 Aqua GM, the RAG-79-G1 Gundam Marine Type and the RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type ^[2].
