The RMV-3M Local Control Type Guntank is a variant of the RMV-1 Guntank II. It first appeared as a part of the MSV-R line.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
Designed as a mobile suit/vehicle for use against mobile suits inside colonies. The RMV-3M Local Control Type Guntank is equipped with a pair of 120mm cannons mounted on its lower body. Its torso is capable of independent rotation, and the arms are 3-tube missile launchers. The Local Control Type Guntank was designed in every way as a vehicle for ground combat, even though it had a limited arsenal.
The only non combat-based armament that the Local Control Type Guntank's wields is a large shovel. This triangular shovel is mounted on the front of the Guntank’s base. Surprisingly, its chassis is taken from the original RX-75 Guntank but turned backwards. The Guntank requires two personnel to operate properly. The driver is located in the base unit, and the gunner is located in the cockpit-style head unit.
Armaments[]
- 120mm Cannon
- The primary armament of the RMV-3M Local Control Type Guntank is a pair of 120mm cannons. These cannons had a maximum ammunition of 12 rounds each.
- 3-tube Missile Launcher
- In place for both its arms, the RMV-3M Local Control Type Guntank has a pair of 3-tube missile launchers. Due to the 3-tubes, these missile launchers can shoot a maximum of 3 large missiles at a time.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Large Shovel
- Located in front of the Local Control Type Guntank's base is a large shovel designed to clear obstacles from in front of the Guntank. This large, triangular shovel can be lowered and retracted when not in use, as seen on modern-day IFVs.
History[]
The Local Control Type Guntank was deployed when the Earth Federation Army conducted its mop-up operation in Africa. This operation against Zeon disarmed the Zeon Forces of the African front. After the operation, though, records of the Local Control Type Guntank being deployed in battle became sparse.
A "02" decal is often marked on a Local Control Type Guntank due to it being a successor unit to the RMV-1 Guntank II.
