The RIX-003 Cannongan (キャノンガン, Kyanongan^?) is a prototype mobile suit that appears in Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. 0096: Last Sun.

Technology & Combat Characteristics

The RIX-003 Cannongan is a remodeled RGM-89A2 Jegan Type-A2 built by Anaheim Electronics and designed in the likeness of the RX-77 Guncannon. Like the RIX-001 Gundam G-First and RIX-00PT GF-Tank, it was developed as a test machine for design verification. It was used in the ceremony being held at Side 7.

Armaments

• Beam Rifle

The manipulators of this unit is are large, dedicated articles with built-in beam rifle functionality. When firing, the hand takes the general shape of a handgun, with the top two fingers serving as the barrels and a sensor built into the thumb. The E-Packs, which extend from the bottom of the hand, are the same standard model used by the Federation's Jegan and ReZEL. Two spare E-Packs are stored on each hip.

• Beam Jack

A small, physical blade stored in a sheath mounted on the left forearm; it can be handheld for use in close combat. It can also instantly generate a beam blade from the end of the handle so it can be used like a nailgun.

• Spray Beam Launcher

The units on both shoulders are enlarged and also serve as the main thrusters and the base of the cannons. When the cannon barrels are folded open, they fire a highly diffuse beam like a beam spray launcher.

• Mega Beam Cannon

When the barrel folds together it fires a like a normal beam cannon.

Special Equipment & Features

• Visor Unit

The visor unit and main camera are movable, and can switch to wide-range mode. The visor design is reminiscent of a Ball.

• Waist E-Pack Holster

Spare E-Packs for the Beam Rifle are stored in a holder on each hip which facilitates faster reloading. The holder pivots forward so that reloading can be completed in one swift motion, like a gunman drawing a pistol from its holster.

Notes & Trivia

• The concept for the Cannongan's finger guns gimmick came from the Kirschbaum, which Makoto Ishiwata also designed for Valvrave the Liberator.
