The RGM-89B Jegan Type B is a mobile suit from the Under the Gundam: Double-Fake manga series.

Technology & Combat Characteristics

A high performance variant of the original Jegan, it has a redesigned frame that is influenced by feedback data from Anaheim Electronics's MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki. It was also completely made out of Gundarium armor instead of the titanium alloy ceramic composite, and had a reactor with higher output.

Armaments

  • Vulcan Pod System
Mounted on the head, the vulcan pod system is a close-range defensive armament. Its vulcan gun has low firepower but a high rate of fire, it is extremely effective at restraining enemy machines, and can destroy the camera, sensors and joints of enemy machine at very close range.
  • Beam Rifle
The standard ranged armament of many mobile suits is the beam rifle. The particle beam fired from a beam rifle can penetrate almost any armor that has not been treated with specific counter-measures. Like most beam weapons of the period, it is powered by a rechargeable energy cap.
  • Beam Saber
The standard close range armament for most Federation mobile suits. The beam saber is a small cylindrical device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. The beam saber is capable of cutting through any metal not treated with anti-beam coating.
  • Shield
A basic arm-mounted defense armament for many Federation mobile suits. The shield is a thick sheet of armor designed to take severe punishment that would normally destroy a mobile suit. It is also treated with an anti-beam coating to withstand several beam shots before the coating wears off. Typically, physical shields can only take so much damage before they succumb to the pressure and break. The shield used by the Jegan Type B has a pair of twin missile launchers.
  • Backpack Rocket Launcher
The Jegan Type B can be fitted with a different backpack that has a pair of rocket launchers. Each launcher carries 9 rounds.

History

The Jegan Type B belongs to a Salamis Kai-class cruiser of the Arahas team which was deployed to escort colony construction near Side 6. It sortied in EFF raid operations in Side 6 and engaged in fierce battles with Neo Zeon's colored forces.
