The RGM-79Q GM Quel [Early Hazel] is a mobile suit from Advance of Zeta Re-Boot: Gundam Inle.

Design & Development[]

The RGM-79Q GM Quel [Early Hazel] is a commander-type variant of the standard RGM-79Q GM Quel, equipped with a dual-eye sensor head developed after testing the RX-121 Gundam TR-1 [Hazel]. Outfitted with a multi-blade antenna, it features enhanced search and communication systems. Its updated head unit also carries psychological weight—instilling fear in Zeon Remnants while boosting the morale of friendly forces. Despite these changes, the rest of the unit remains structurally identical to the standard GM Quel, and it typically serves as the command machine within GM Quel units. [1]

Operational History[]

After the Titans' defeat in the Gryps Conflict, one of the surviving factions—led by Colonel Tristan—fled to Mars. The Early Hazel units were originally GM Quels brought along during this retreat and later deployed in the Founding War in cooperation with ReZeon. Their head units were replaced with the Early Hazel type—commander-use equipment that had been secretly stored aboard an abandoned Columbus-class transport ship, which served as the Tristan faction’s hidden base.[2]

Disguised as Gundams and flown as banners of their unwavering resolve, several Early Hazel units were deployed during Operation Shining Star by the Titans Remnants on Mars—a desperate rebellion where they risked everything to revive the Titans and return to Earth. The Early Hazel may have only looked like a Gundam on the outside—its frame was that of a GM Quel—but for the Titans remnants who had risen once more, it was a symbol of their former glory, a beacon of hope, and a reminder of past victories. Conversely, for the ReZeon forces tasked with suppressing them, it was a devil from the past—a visage that evoked memories of the Gundam that once struck fear into Zeon, and the root cause of their past defeat. To all who saw it, no matter the side, the Early Hazel was "Gundam." These feelings echoed those of Lieutenant Eliard Hunter, a former test pilot of the Titans Test Team. To him, the Hazel II—his cherished mobile suit—was a true Gundam. Through the chaos of the Gryps Conflict, he fought with conviction, guided by justice and pride, believing in the symbol he piloted.[2]
