The RGM-79N GM Custom is a mobile suit introduced in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
A GM model seen after the One Year War. Like other Federation mobile suits, its joints are covered in seals. It is equipped with a backpack fitted with four vernier arms. Its cockpit is also fitted with a panoramic monitor.

- The GM Custom is equipped with two beam sabers, which are stored on its backpack’s upper vernier arms.

- A shield carried by its handle, which carries a pair of spare E-caps for the GM Custom’s beam rifle. The shield is also fitted with a wired anchor and a claw at its tip, which can be fired to seize a target.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Ballute System
- An atmospheric entry device designed to be used by a multitude of different mobile suit models. As the mobile suit enters the atmosphere, a bowl-shaped ballute (balloon parachute) deploys to protect it from the friction heat of atmospheric entry. The balloon then detaches, leaving the mobile suit with chest and leg hover units which ease its descent to the ground. If the mobile suit reaches the ground without expending all the fuel in the leg units, these devices can also be used for hovering and high-speed strike missions.
History[]
A Federation fleet led by the Pegasus-class assault ship Ticonderoga deployed a dozen RGM-79N GM Custom units led by Lt. Volkov to pursue a fleet of South Seas Alliance refugee ships heading to the neutral colony of Side 6, but were ambushed by an RRf-06 Zanny piloted by Billy Hickam. The GMs Customs retreated along with the Ticonderoga as Daryl Lorenz joined the battle in the Perfect Gundam docked with the MAN-03 Braw Bro (Thunderbolt Ver.).
Later, the GM Customs of the Ticonderoga and the mobile suit forces of the Beehive II joined a battle together at Konpei Island during Operation Maitreya, the Alliance's plan to seize the Solar Ray from Side 3.
