The RGM-111BT Hardygun Blitzkrieg was introduced in the Mobile Suit Gundam Silhouette Formula Official Handbook included in the Bandai 1/100 scale RX-99 Neo Gundam model kit and designed by Kunio Okawara. It was later featured in the manga Mobile Suit Gundam F90 Cluster.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
Hardygun Blitzkrieg is one of RGM-111 Hardygun variations that is mainly designed for close quarter combat in tight space, such as Colony urban district and asteroid base. The Hardygun Blitzkrieg was inspired by Earth Federation Forces first generation MS such as RGM-79FP GM Striker and RX-81AS G-Line Assault Armor, which was known for is high performance in close quarter combat and also integrated SNRI's Formula Project. Because of that Hardygun Blitzkrieg is designed to disable enemy MS in close quarter combat at high speed without damaging the MS generator that could cause catastrophic damage, primarily in Space Colony environment. Armaments[]
- Vulcan Gun
- Mounted in the head, these shell firing weapons have a high-rate of fire but little power and can't damage the thick armor of a mobile suit, though they can damage lightly armored areas such as the sensors. They are ideal for shooting down small, lightly armored targets such as missiles, attack vehicles, etc.
- Beam Saber
- The standard close range armament for most mobile suits, it is a small cylindrical device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. The beam saber emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-Field and is capable of cutting through any metal not treated with anti-beam coating. The Hardygun is equipped with a beam saber stored on the left side of its backpack.
- Triple Grenade Rack
- A rack carrying three grenades is mounted on right side of the waist.
- Quadruple Grenade Rack
- The Hardygun Blitzkrieg is equipped with a waist-mounted grenade racks each carrying 4 hand grenades on the left waist. The explosive power of the grenades are reduced to avoid damaging the colony's outer walls, thus they are less effective during anti-MS combat.
- Twin Grenade Launcher
- Twin grenade launcher derived from RGM-109 Heavygun Full Equipment Type, and mounted on its right forearm.
- Beam Spraygun
- A shortened version of RGM-109 Heavygun that also come with integrated grenade launcher underneath its barrel. This weapon can be stored on Hardygun Blitzkrieg right leg when not in use.
- Beam Lancer
- A large caliber beam saber that can generate a cone-shaped beam blade, it is best suited for piercing attacks. But unlike the one used by F90II-I Gundam F90II Intercept Type this version of Beam Lancer omitted the beam shotgun feature to reduce cost and ease of maintenance.
- Shield
- A basic arm-mounted defense armament for many Federation mobile suits. The shield is a thick sheet of armor designed to take severe punishment that would normally destroy a mobile suit, and is also treated with an anti-beam coating to withstand several beam shots before the coating wears off. Typically, physical shields can only take so much damage before they succumb to the pressure and break. The Hardygun uses a custom shield.
History[]
In May 11th U.C 0119, four unit of Hardygun Bliztkrieg of the EFF 106th Guardian Squadron deployed to Side 1 Mapungubwe Colony, to suppress Anti-Earth Federation movement caused by Nouvelle EGUM.[2] The 106th Hardygun Blitzkriegs was tasked to takedown seven RGD-X1 MS. The battle was a short one as the Hardygun Blitzkrieg able to takedown all of the RGD-X1 in just five minutes, while minimizing the damage to colony environment. [1]
In U.C 0121 several Hardygun Blitzkrieg was used by a Private Military Company (PMC) called Dunsinane PMC during siege of Oldsmobile forces's Olympus Mons fortress on Mars. These Hardygun Blitzkrieg was able to inflitrate the fortress and fight defending MS with ease, but their effort was cut short as Bosch Weller in his OMS-90R Gundam F90 was ambushed Dunsinane PMC's Hardygun Blitzkriegs. On the other side, several Hardygun Blitzkriegs was tasked to secure Hangar 7, but was ambushed by Mars Zeon F90 Unit 2. and was defeated by the Mars Zeon F90's more advanced equipment. [3]
Variations[]
- RGM-111BT Hardygun Blitzkrieg (Dunsinane PMC Specifications)
- Featured in Mobile Suit Gundam F90 Cluster. A variation of Hardygun Blitzkrieg used by Dunsinane PMC that affiliated with Buch Concern. This particular Hardygun Blitzkrieg equipped with extra head sensor similiar to those used by RGM-89 Jegan (Birnam Type), painted in white & black livery and adjusted to have better performance in close combat situation.[1] Thanks to such modification, its capable to takedown Oldsmobile forces replica MS with ease, and performed on equal term against high performance MS such as OMS-90R Gundam F90.
