The RB-133 Ball Type 133 (aka High Ball) is a mobile pod that appears in the manga Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Ball Model 133 is the successor to the RB-79 Ball and was newly created by the Earth Federation Forces based on their high-low mix concept. The mass-produced F91 Gundam F91 deployed at the same time was indeed high performance, but its cost was high, so the simple structure and low cost of the Ball series was reevaluated as a support role. As a result, the cost of a squadron unit was reduced to about the same as when a squadron was formed with the standard mass-produced machine of the Federation Forces at the time (the Jamesgun). Although its firepower has been improved, it still has a poor reputation among soldiers.
Armaments[]
- Triple Cannon
- A very simple armament that consists of three cannons from the original Ball, lined up to form a triple cannon.
- 30mm Vulcan Gun
- A pair of shell-firing armament built into the body.
History[]
In U.C 0133, A contingent amount of Ball Type 133 belonging to Earth Federation Forces 17th Mobile Forces were present during an ambush by EFF Fleet to capture Mother Vanguard after itreached the Earth Sphere. Then after a false flag attack caused by XM-X2 Crossbone Gundam X-2, a lot of these Ball sieged the Mother Vanguard and participated on it's destruction.[1] Later these Ball Type 133 was also participated during Jupiter Empire invasion of Earth, become a fire support for the EFF MS present in the vicinity. Despite being an enhanced version of RB-79 Ball these new Ball Type 133 were no match for Jupiter Empire more advanced MS and many of them destroyed during the battle. [2]
It is unknown what happened to the Ball Type 133 after the events of Crossbone Gundam, but it can be assumed that the performance of these upgraded Balls aren't satisfying that led to it's replacements with more advanced MS such as the RGM-119 Jamesgun & RGM-122 Javelin.
