The Peacemaker Force is a sub-faction of the 7th Space Fleet, introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

Overview

The Peacemaker Force was a task force centered around five Agamemnon-class carriers, commanded by Captain William Sutherland and his flagship, the Doolittle, escorted by several Drake-class and Nelson-class vessels. Each of the Agamemnon-class carriers carry a full complement of TS-MA2 Moebius mobile armors, all of them armed with nuclear missiles.

History

Battle of Boaz

The Peacemaker Force was formed for the express purpose of carrying out Operation Elvis, a two-staged military campaign proposed by Blue Cosmos leader Muruta Azrael, to end the war by attacking ZAFT's space military bases and the PLANT Colonies with nuclear warheads. The Peacemaker Force first saw action at the Battle of Boaz. While the combined forces of the Earth Alliance’s 6th and 7th Space Fleet engaged the Boaz defense force, the Peacemaker Force deployed several dozen Moebius mobile armors equipped with nukes. Once a path was opened by the Calamity, Forbidden, and Raider Gundams, the Moebius’ fired their missiles at Boaz, destroying the base and many of the surrounding ships and mobile suits.

Second Battle of Jachin Due

Three days later, the Peacemaker Force attempted to repeat their actions at the Second Battle of Jachin Due on the PLANT Colonies. However, the missiles were intercepted by the mobile suits of the Three Ships Alliance, primarily the METEOR equipped Justice and Freedom Gundams. After the failed first strike, the task force retreated from the battle zone after ZAFT’s GENESIS superweapon significantly damaged the EA fleet. The following day, the EA fleet reengaged the ZAFT forces, and in desperation, Azrael ordered Sutherland to launch the remaining nuclear missiles at the PLANTs. However, the second wave was destroyed by the mobile suits of ZAFT's Joule Team and the Three Ships Alliance. Afterwards, both forces attacked and destroyed the ships of the Peacemaker Force, wiping the group out entirely, with Sutherland dying when his flagship, the Doolittle, was destroyed by Yzak Joule’s GAT-X102 Duel Gundam.

Legacy

In January of C.E. 72, during the ceasefire period declared in the aftermath of Second Battle of Jachin Due, a group of pro-Radical Faction ZAFT soldiers scavenged the wreck of the Doolittle and recovered its remaining nuclear missiles. The group intended to use the nukes in a plan to reignite the war, but were stopped by the forces of the Three Ships Alliance.

• The name of Peacemaker task force is a possible reference of the nuclear-capable Convair B-36 Peacemaker bomber.
