Palau was an asteroid base that appeared in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn.

History

Palau was a civilian mining asteroid in Side 6, brought into the Earth sphere from the asteroid belt. The Governor General of the asteroid was an adamant Zeon sympathizer, and offered it to the "Sleeves" as a base of operations.

In the Unicorn novel, Gilboa Sant mentioned that the governor of Palau named it after the Earth archipelago of the same name as a reference to Solomon, and that the governor was apparently unaware that Solomon was named after King Solomon, rather than the Solomon Islands. Its residence block has a population of around 30,000, most of whom are miners.

In U.C. 0096, Londo Bell and ECOAS launched an attack on the asteroid to retrieve Banagher Links and the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam. ECOAS first planted a number of explosives that separated Palau's four asteroids, before the Nahel Argama fired a hyper-mega particle cannon attack to seal off the military port. The Federation Forces then engaged the forces of the "Sleeves", while leaving the civilian unit unscathed.
