Technology & Combat Characteristics
Developed on the same platform as the ovw-dc Wrozzo, the Gomel is one of the mobile suits developed by Vagan for the invasion of Earth. It specialized in operating on sandy terrain, such as deserts. The Gomel is designed to attack enemy units while being hidden in the sand, and can transform into mobile armor (MA) mode for diving into and moving freely in the sand. It is armed with Shiguru Claws, Missile Launchers on its arms, and a Gomel Cannon on its chest. The Gomel can be assisted in battle by multiple, small, unmanned drones.
- Gomel Cannon
- Mounted on the chest, it fires a very wide and powerful beam. The cannon can also generate a short beam spike for close combat.
- Shiguru Claw
- The Gomel lacks the hand-mounted beam vulcans/sabers featured on many other Vagan mobile suits. Instead, it is armed with deadly, claw-like fingers for striking or piercing enemy mobile suits at close range.
- Missile Launcher
- A missile launcher is located on each forearm for a total of two launchers.
Three Gomels were known to be deployed by the Vagan during the final phase of Operation Eden. They were assigned to the Phantom 3 and confronted the Diva-class cruiser as it made its way to Rostroulan. They were defeated by Kio Asuno and his AGE-3F Gundam AGE-3 Fortress, with one of the Phantom 3 members killed in the process.
- Gomel N
- Beraji Gomel
Notes & Trivia
- Both the Gomel and the ovw-dc Wrozzo are likely inspired by the Principality of Zeon and Neo Zeon's amphibious mobile suits, and have similarities to the MSM-03C Hygogg from Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket.
