Operation Fallen Angel was the decisive battle in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 consisting of the world's remaining military forces such as the Union, AEU and the HRL forming a military alliance under the banner of United Nations to create the United Nations Forces, the largest military force in the world to conduct a military operation to destroy Celestial Being.
Prelude[]
Celestial Being, a paramilitary organization utilizes the advanced mobile suits called Gundams and carry out indiscriminate armed interventions around the world in the name of eradicating warfare by Aeolia Schenberg. However, the Celestial Being agent, Alejandro Corner begins to carry out schemes of his own for the a secret agenda of controlling the world by seizing Veda and interfering with Aeolia Schenberg's Plan.
To ensure that the world would respond, Alejandro dispatched the new Celestial Being team, Team Trinity and their new Gundams, Gundam Thrones Zwei, Eins, and Drei into the Taklamakan desert during the military exercise operation between the three economic blocs and Celestial Being's Gundam Meister. Shortly afterwards, Team Trinity has conducted armed interventions that are different than the core members of GUndam Meisters and the crew of CBS-70 Ptolemaios. Team Trinity has targeted major military bases in all three of the economic blocks, decimating most of the military forces that each side possessed, and then proceed forward to attacking their manufacturing facilities that prevented them from building new weapons and machines.
With all of the military powers collapsing, the three economic blocs are considered giving Celestial Being their unconditional surrender. However, Alejandro Corner and another Celestial being agent, Laguna Harvey, stepped in and gave them a fighting chance.
The Union, AEU, and HRL governments were each given 10 GN Drive Taus, a total of 30 mobile suits to them to utilize in battle: the GNX-603T GN-X. In a public display of unity, the highest political representatives of each nations have announced a military alliance to form the largest military force in history with one objective: to destroy Celestial Being. With the power of the new mobile suits, the HRL chased away Team Trinity during one of their armed interventions. Simultaneously, the Union and the AEU launched a joint military operation to attack the Ptolemy mothership and its crew in space.
Battle[]
The final battle between Celestial Being and the United Nations has begun with a two-prolonged simultaneous attacks against Team Trinity on Earth and the Ptolemy crew in space.
On Earth, Sergei's Chonbu GN-X squad approaches the Trinity base in Africa with the intent to destroy the supposedly Celestial Being's base on Earth. Suddenly, a GN-X is destroyed by a long range shot from Johann's GN high mega launcher. The Thrones launch from the base and engage the GN-Xs.
Back on space, the Ptolemy crew and Gundam Meisters have engaged 19 incoming Gn-Xs, but suddenly all four Gundams shut down after Alejandro and Ribbons Almark hacked into the Celestial Being quantum supercomputer, Veda. However, anticipating that Veda is compromised, Sumeragi orders Christina and Feldt Grace to switch to the Backup Stand-Alone Operating System. As the backup system comes online, all the Gundams reactivate, except for the Gundam Virtue. Patrick Colasour makes a run at Tieria, but at the last second Lockon jumps in and takes the force of the attack through his cockpit, severely wounding him and his right eye, just before Lasse in the GN Arms arrives and fires again to destroy a GN-X. Despite the initial setbacks, the world leaders were confident that they have the weapons to fight back against the Gundams.[1]
Team Trinity, having lost its base and running out of GN Particles in their mobile suits, contacts Wang Liu Mei to send them help to get back up into space. Instead, they are visited by a Ali al-Saachez's Enact Custom Agrissa Type, claiming to come in peace. Al-Saachez, after revealing that he killed Laguna Harvey, kills Michael and later Johann after Al-Saachez took the Throne Zwei. As he goes for the killing blow for Nena, he is hit by the container and Exia piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei.
On the moon, Ribbons had unlocked level 7 of Veda. A mysterious container then comes up, holding the cryogenically preserved body of Aeolia Schenberg. Alejandro brings up a gun and shoots Aeolia's body. But suddenly, a prerecorded video of Aeolia activates, indicating a system trap, which he anticipated that someone would attempt to kill him.
Before Al-Saachez goes for the killing blow on Setsuna, the GN Drive in Exia lights up and the Gundam goes to superspeed. In a reddish hue and leaving afterimages, Exia evades Zwei and knocks him down to the ground. Another message by Aeolia plays in Exia and Ptolemaios, saying he entrusts the full utilization of their GN drives in hopes of bringing about a new world and a new peace. Zwei gets up and attacks but can't compensate for Exia's high speed. In desperation, Al-Saachez releases one of the GN Fang containers, with Setsuna slicing it in four allowing Ali to retreat. The system that gave Exia its high-performance mode is known as the Trans-Am System.[2] With Team Trinity effectively eliminated, the HRL team rendezvous with the Union and the AEU teams in space to destroy the Celestial Being spaceship.
At the Language 1 resource satellites, Ptolemy is attaching a combat container and storing Kyrios' Tail Booster. Sumeragi and the other Meisters read the data on Trans-Am, an ability only present in the original Solar Furnaces. Apparently, the drives expel all stored particles, resulting in a high-state of performance. But it has a short time limit, after which the Gundams will be low on power. Setsuna then sends a message informing the others of Throne Zwei's capture by Saachez. L
The U.N. forces, consisting of three Virginia-class transports carrying all the GN-X's, including Zwei, proceeds to head out to destroy the Gundams once and for all. Elsewhere, Setsuna and Lasse are returning in the combat container.
All GN-X disembark from the transports and quickly rush off; Ali stays reservedly behind. Allelujah Haptism heads out in Kyrios with its new Tail Booster unit and Tieria Erde in his repaired Virtue and two cannon rifles. Allelujah attacks with a pre-emptive strike against the GN-Xs using the Tail Booster unit to fire a devastating blast, destroying one GN-X and increase speed and maneuverability.
The GN-Xs begin their engagement, but are taken off guard by Celestial Being's other weapons. Virtue has a second GN Bazooka. Despite the overwhelming numbers, the GN-Xs are inferior to the Gundam's individual abilities. Tieria uses Virtue's shoulder cannons and successfully destroys one GN-X while being shielded by its GN Field. Saachez decides to come in and fight. Tiera notices the Throne unit and fires off two of its bazookas at the Zwei, but Saachez dodges the shot with minimal efforts. He unleashed a horde of his GN Fangs. Tiera was able to destroy two, but two more Fangs were very high maneuverable to dodge the blast and pierced Virtue's armor and shield. Tiera loses one of its bazookas and his Gundam was severely damaged. After retrieving the Fang, Saachez leaves to let the rest deal with the Gundam. With its GN shield weakening, the GN-Xs throws a barrage at Virtue, damaging the armor even more as they bombarded from all sides
Two more GN-Xs tried to ambush Kyrios, but the Tail Booster unit gives the Gundam high maneuverability, and Allelujah destroys one of the GN-Xs with its cannon. He notices Tiera in trouble and tries to fly over to him, but then, he is attacked by Soma Peries. She successfully shoots several more beams at the Tail Booster Unit, damaging it, and then her Quantum Brainwaves severely inflicts painful headaches to Allelujah. He was forced to dispatch the Tail Booster Unit before it explodes as he engaged beam saber combat with Soma. Sergei's GN-X intervenes and then shoots a beam right from behind Kyrios, damaging its flight mode. Meanwhile, Lockon, who was locked in his room, launches in Dynames with the GN Arms Type D to attack the enemy.
With help from Sergei's GN-X, Soma's GN-X was about to destroy Kyrios when Allelujah activated his Gundam's Trans-Am to evade her attack. At the same time, Hallelujah blocked off Soma's quantum brainwaves so that Allelujah could fight without any interference. Allelujah and Kyrios evade further attacks from the Chobu GN-X team and destroyed the left leg and right arm of Soma's and Sergei's GN-X respectively.
As for Tieria, with their attacks being relentless, he activated Virtue's Trans-Am and tried to blast through most of the GN-Xs using the GN Bazooka, unleashing a more devastating blast that takes out three GN-Xs; Patrick is hit in the head and sent floating into space, but the attack quickly depleted Virtue's particles, forcing Tieria to go on the defensive once again. As the situation seemed hopeless, Lockon Stratos in GN Arms Type suddenly appeared on the battlefield and took out all of Tieria's enemy forces with a barrage of GN missile attack, wiping out all but Daryl with GN Missiles and proceeds to take out the transports.
Allelujah's Kyrios was running out of particles just before the Chobu GN-X team retreats from the area to save its transports from Dynames. Lockon catches up to the U.N. Virginia Class transports and takes out two, but before he can destroy the last, the cannon is hit by Saachez and his Zwei, forcing Lockon to eject before a linear bolt from the last transport hits the GN Arms, destroying it.
Lockon then goes after Saachez in a sword fight, but Daryl interrupts, determined to take revenge for Howard's death. Daryl kamikazes into Dynames's right side, but Lockon kills him. At this point Saachez figures out that Lockon can't see on his right side and deploys the GN Fangs as daggers. Lockon takes out his pistol and destroys most of the Fangs, but the last two Fangs manages to pierce Dynames, critically damaging Dynames and slightly injure Lockon. Despite his injuries, he takes his targeting module with him to the remaining cannon of the GN Arms, instructing Haro to take care of the solar furnace.
Saachez continues to look for him so he can finish off Lockon. He manages to read his life sign ping and heads over to the GN Cannon. As Saachez aims and fires his beam weapon at the cannon, Lockon managed to get a aim at the approaching Zwei, and shot a massive blast at the Gundam. The beam hits Zwei at the lower section, but the Gundam was able to raise its beam weapon high enough to shoot at the cannon before it explodes. Lockon was caught in the blast was floating into space, just as the cannon explodes, engulfing him.
Setsuna, who headed to the battle, but he was too late to save Lockon as he was killed by the vacuum of space. Lockon's death promotes Haro calling out Lockon's name repeatedly over the communication, leaving the awful truth dawns on everyone.[3]
Celestial Being's Last Stand[]
Both forces are already on the brink. Celestial Being lost Dynames, which was critically damaged beyond repair, one of the GN Arms, and Lockon Stratos was killed in action. To fight with whatever mobile suits they have, Gundam Kyrios can launch without the tail booster, and they have to remove the Virtue armor of the Gundam Nadleeh.
The U.N. forces have also taken severe losses to their forces. Out of 27 GN-X units, only 11 managed to return, and they lost the Gundam Throne Zwei. Combined with the new Trans-Arm ability, Sergei suggests Kati Mannequin that they should withdraw from the area to replenish the forces, cautioning if they continue down fighting with their dwindling resources, they'll lose more of their soldiers. Kati agrees, but she says they have orders to attack again because reinforcements are on the way. Patrick and his damaged GN-X returns to the ship. Alejandro arrives on the battlefield with his the gold mobile armor, the Alvatore, and pilots it to ensure that the U.N. Forces achieve victory.
The Alvatore and the remaining GN-X squad is detected. Alejandro fires the Alvatore's beam cannon and hits the Ptolemaios' port side. A second shot comes in and grazes the Ptolemaios' starboard side. Lasse launches in the Assault Container with Setsuna and his Exia inside to streak pass the GN-X squad to engage the Alvatore, while Lichtendahl Tsery moves the ship behind a nearby asteroid.
Sumeragi orders Tieria and Allelujah to launch from the ship's containers and defend the ship. Sergei leads the GN-X squad and orders everyone to flank the Ptolemaios, vowing to bring the battle to an decisive end. Patrick and several other GN-X pilots approach the ship, but Tieria attacks them with his beam rifle. Hallelujah uses his shield to pierce and destroy a GN-X, then attacks Soma. Sergei steps in to help, forcing Hallelujah to fall back a bit.
Lasse opens fire on the Alvatore with missiles and beam cannons, but the Alvatore blocks them with a GN Field. Alejandro fires the beam cannon again, which damages Kyrios and wrecks the Ptolemaios' port side. Dr. Joyce B. Moreno was killed from the blast. With the most recent damage, the ship is unable to generate its own GN Field, and Sumeragi decides to go to the Assault Container with Ian Vashti to help defend the ship.
Tieria activates Trans-Am and destroys several GN-Xs, but the Nadleeh is hit by another attack from Alvatore and loses a leg. Patrick and another pilot bombard Tieria with beam fire and blow off an arm and both legs. Patrick and Tieria fire at the same time, which results in his GN-X losing its upper body and other GN-X destroyed while Gundam Nadleeh loses its head.
Although Gundam Kyrios is missing an arm and a leg, Hallelujah continues to fight with Sergei and Soma. Sumeragi and Ian fire at the three GN-X attacking Kyrios. A GN-X closes in and is hit by GN missiles, but it continues its attack and blasts the bridge. Ian opens fire and destroys the GN-X. Lichtendahl and Christina were killed as the bridge explodes, destroying the ship.[4]
With Nadleeh disabled, and Kyrios severely damaged, the Exia is the last abled unit standing and is in combat with Alvatore. Sergei and Soma Peries begin their search for Kyrios. Allelujah and Hallelujah came to a compromise and launches Kyrios to attack. Through use of precise thinking, Allelujah is able to strike both his opponents simultaneously, taking out Sergei's GN-X's left arm. He then avoids all shots at him.
Kyrios takes out Sergei's other arm and then surprises Soma in a beam saber fight. Allelujah is able to outclass her, and activates Trans Am. Kyrios was able to take out Soma's GN-X's left arm and right leg and is about to kill her when Sergei takes the blow, allowing Soma to blast the Kyrios with a barrage of beam attacks. The cockpit explodes, severely wounding Allelujah, and leaving it floating into space while Soma tends to the injured Sergei.[5]
Exia vs Alvatore and Alvaaron[]
Meanwhile, Lasse and Setsuna continue to fire on the Alvatore to no effect. Lasse rams the Assault Container into the Alvatore, but the mobile armor deploys it arms to grapple the unit. As the Assault Container begins to crumple, Lasse ejects in the GN Arms Type-E, followed by Setsuna in his Exia. The Exia then rushes at the Alvatore.[4]
Setsuna and his Exia attacks the Alvatore, but is forced back by a number of beam shots. Lasse suggests hitting the remaining parts of the Assault Container in the mobile armor's arms to take out the said arms. The two simultaneously shoot the pieces, but it deals no damage to Alvatore.
Alejandro Corner unleashes six remote controlled Fangs from the Alvatore at the Exia and the GN Arms Type-E, managing to destroy the Gundam's shield, so Setsuna docks with Lasse's GN Arms Type-E to form the GN Armor Type-E. They take out the Fangs and an intense battle with the Alvatore ensued. Lasse is knocked out by an explosion in his cockpit caused by the Alvatore's attack, but Setsuna continues the fight and managed to cripple the mobile armor. As the GN Arms Type-E component of the GN Armor Type-E explodes from the accumulated damage, Setsuna and his Exia ejects and proceed to cause massive damage to the Alvatore, finally defeating the mobile armor.
Setsuna tries to reach Lasse but a beam shot comes from Alvatore's direction, revealing a golden winged mobile suit, Alvaaron controlling the mobile armor. Now in the Alvaaron, Alejandro engages Setsuna. After exchanging several attacks with the Exia, Alejandro fires the Alvaaron's powerful beam cannon at the Gundam, but Setsuna is able to avoid the attack with Trans Am. He strikes the Alvaaron with Exia's swords after recalling that Exia was also designed to take out Gundams with GN Fields. Using the Gundam's seven swords, Setsuna defeats Alejandro and his Alvaaron. Ribbons Almark then contacts a bloodied Alejandro, revealing that he intends to guide the world in his place. He was only observing as to how far Alejandro could go with his schemes. Furious that Ribbons is usurping his family's long-laid out plans, Alejandro punches the screen, just as the Alvaaron explodes.
Setsuna vs Graham Aker[]
Setsuna believes it is over, but is faced with the GN Flag, piloted by Graham Aker. He is extremely surprised to see the kid he met in Azadistan. The two begin a sword-saber fight, with the Flag wielding a beam saber Graham took from the Eins and Setsuna using his GN Sword. Both mobile suits clashed with equal footing. However, the Flag had poor balance as the GN Drive Tau was forcibly integrated into a mobile suit not meant to use it, but Graham was able to compensate with his advanced piloting skills.
Graham contacts Setsuna through video feed, only for the both of them to be surprised to see each other after their previous encounter in Azadistan. Despite that, Graham cuts off an arm from Gundam Exia. In response, Setsuna cleaves off the GN Flag's right leg. Both pilots tore out each of their mobile suit's head. As Graham dodged Exia's shots, his beam saber powered up, and the GN Flag and Exia charged at each other, stabbing the other's lower right torso and upper left chest. Both mobile suits exploded as a result, causing a massive outburst of red and green GN particles.[5]
Aftermath[]
Following through the battle, it was a clear decisive victory for the United Nations. Despite losing all of its GN-X mobile suits, and Two Virginia Class carrier transports, the U.N. forces prevailed in their operation after barely defeating Celestial Being. With the major threat now eliminated, the people of the world have finally found their peace free from the threat of the Gundams.
Celestial Being suffered a critical blow. They lost the Ptolemaios class ship carrier, all the Gundams were critically damaged, and a majority of the crew was killed in action or missing, including the Gundam Meisters: Lockon Stratos was killed in action, Setsuna was missing after the battle, and Allelujah was captured by the U.N. forces following the battle. Tieria was able to survive and returned to the group. Despite the lost of major key players, Celestial Being, as a whole, still managed to survive the battle and went into hiding to prepare for a new war.
By A.D. 2311, the nations of the 328 countries had merged and would reform their governments into a singular unified force giving birth to the Earth Sphere Federation and in the following year, a unified armed forces, the Earth Sphere Federation Forces was formed. Ironically, as much as the world may have detested and feared Celestial Being in A.D. 2307, the organization had succeeded in their goal of creating a new era of peace by forcing the nations of the world into unifying under a single government. The dream of a united world seems to have been achieved.[5]
