Operation 8.8 (八・八作戦) is a conflict of the First Alliance-PLANT War, featured in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED MSV.
Prelude[]
Riding the trend of the success of the Second Battle of Casablanca, the Earth Alliance launched with the Carpentaria Base as its final target on August 8, C.E. 71.
The Battle[]
As the first phase, the "Ayers Rock Landing Operation" was launched to descend orbiting MS launched from the Victoria Base, ZAFT was pinched from inland Australia and at sea by a drop force consisting mainly of the GAT-333 Raider Full Spec and the Pacific Fleet consisting of the GAT-X255 Forbidden Blue and GAT-706S Deep Forbidden. The GAT/A-01E2 Buster Dagger was also deployed in the operation, with one unit piloted by Rena Imelia. During that battle, Rena successfully fought and destroyed three TMF/A-803 LaGOWEs.[1] At this time, MS, personnel, supplies, and other items began to be sent one after another from the Victoria spaceport to the Ptolemaeus Lunar Base. The war situation remained in favor of the Earth Alliance. However, the operation was protracted and was not settled before the end of the First Alliance-PLANT War, leading to a ceasefire.
Aftermath[]
After the war, the Carpentaria base became a ZAFT base recognized on Earth along with Gibraltar and also served as an embassy on Earth.
