The ORX-005 Gaplant (Ingrid 0 Use) (ギャプラン (イングリッド0専用機) Gyapuran (Inguriddo 0 Sen'yō-ki)?) is a custom transformable Mobile Armor introduced in the manga MSV-R: The Return of Johnny Ridden.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
This modified Gaplant was piloted by Ingrid 0, also known as "Johnny Ridden," an ace pilot of the Zeon military. She went missing in action during the Battle of A Baoa Qu, which took place near the end of the One Year War.
The Gaplant was a transformable MA that succeeded the Earth Federation Forces' Asshimar. In order to keep up with the ever-expanding front lines due to advances in MS mobility, it was granted the ability of flight under gravity conditions. The exceptional mobility provided by movable shield binders on its arms also caused excessive physical strain for the pilot. Because of this, prototype pilots were limited to those specifically capable of withstanding G-force, or Cyber Newtypes. This unit features larger movable shield binders than those of other Gaplant models, and by connecting both binders, a dedicated mechanism allows them to function as a Beam Mega Cannon.
Armaments[]
- Beam Rifle
- The standard ranged armament of many mobile suits, the beam rifle fires a particle beam that can penetrate any armor not treated with specific counter-measures. Like the standard Gaplant, Ingrid 0's Gaplant is equipped with two beam rifles integrated into the tip of the arm-mounted shield binders.
- Beam Mega Cannon
- The tips of the shield binders can pivot, enabling them to be brought together as the nose of the Gaplant in Mobile Armor mode, with the two beam rifles combining their output into a more powerful Beam Mega Cannon.
- Beam Saber
- The beam saber is a close combat armament powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. It emits high-energy Minovsky particles to form a blade-shaped I-field (via manipulation of electromagnetic fields), and then fills this I-field shell with superheated Minovsky particle plasma to produce an effective cutting blade. Ingrid 0's Gaplant is equipped with a pair of beam sabers built into the top of the shield binders, so that they can be used without needing to occupy the hands.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Movable Shield Binder
- Mounted on the arms, it is a composite equipment that can function as a beam rifle/saber, shield and thruster unit. Compared to the standard Gaplant, the shield binders of Ingrid 0's Gaplant are larger and more contoured, with a larger thruster, though to compensate for the additional weight an additional connecting strut has been added to the arms. As these thruster equipped binders are movable, they allow the Gaplant to change direction during flight without needing to change the direction of its nose. The binders also function as shields as their surface are anti-beam coated.
- Custom Booster
- Like the Gaplant, Ingrid 0's unit can be equipped with a custom long-range booster in mobile armor mode, which increases the amount of fuel the Gaplant can carry, increasing its operational flight time and cruising distance. When the fuel is depleted, the booster can be purged to decrease mass. The custom booster of Ingrid 0's Gaplant also has fifty-six missile launchers built into it —fourteen on each side— which can still be fired even after the booster has been jettisoned.
History[]
Despite her appearance as a young girl, Ingrid 0 exhibited exceptional piloting skills and physical resilience, engaging in a dogfight with the restored Core Booster Plan004.
