The Multi Lock-on System is a technology introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

Technical Information

An advanced targeting system, it enables a mobile suit to lock on to several enemies at once, and fire at them simultaneously with near pinpoint accuracy. The system requires the mobile suit's pilot to posses high spatial awareness capabilities, and is also compatible with the METEOR unit.

History

The Multi Lock-on System was created by ZAFT in C.E. 71 during the development of its nuclear-powered mobile suits. It was most notable employed by the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam in conjunction with its Full Burst Mode to disable multiple enemy mobile suits at once. The system was used by the Freedom Gundam and the ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam, alongside their METEOR units, to great effect during the Second Battle of Jachin Due, enabling the interception of a large number of nuclear missiles launched by the Earth Alliance's forces at the PLANT colonies.

During the Second Alliance-PLANT War, the system was installed on the Justice and Freedom's successors, the ZGMF-X19A ∞ Justice Gundam and the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam respectively.

• The GN-010 Gundam Zabanya from the Anno Domini timeline has a targeting system with a similar name but works differently.
