Moussa is an asteroid introduced in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.

Overview

The satellite asteroid Moussa was attached to the top-front-right side of the much larger Axis asteroid, to serve as an additional residential area for the citizens living in Axis. The rock was round, relatively smooth-textured and walnut-like in shape, and at about one-fifth the size and mass of its host rock. Moussa was retrofitted with extra living space, manufacturing facilities, and a gravity block one kilometre in diameter, to help alleviate the deteriorating living conditions on Axis. The gravity block in particular helped in producing food for the base; at least 250 metres was reserved for agricultural purposes.

History

Following the end of the One Year War, Axis became a refuge for renegade Zeon soldiers and their families, most of whom were fleeing the Earth Sphere. With the influx number added onto Axis's population surpassing 30,000 people and that number rapidly rising, Axis found itself ill-equipped to house and provide for so many people in such short time, which lead to overcrowding, shortages of supplies, and the spread of disease. To remedy this, the asteroid Moussa was found, hollowed out, filled with the necessary facilities, and moved to be tethered to the surface of Axis, bound and linked by multiple cables, metal beams and struts, and access tubes.

Gryps War

During the Gryps Conflict, Axis had returned to the Earth Sphere. When Haman Karn had Axis ram the Gate of Zedan, Axis was evacuated in advance and Moussa was detached from Axis to ensure the safety of its civilian population.

First Neo Zeon War

After the end of the Gryps War, Moussa was reattached to Axis. Nearly a year later, during the Battle of Axis, Glemy Toto ordered Moussa to be detached from Axis once again and be used to destroy the space colony Core 3. Moussa just barely missed colliding with Core 3, having been pushed off course by multiple beams blasted from Neo Zeon ships.
