Mobile War History Gundam Burai (機動戦史ガンダム 武頼 Kidō Senshi Gandamu Burai?) is a manga by Kazuma Isobe serialized in Gundam Ace and published by Kadokawa.

Synopsis[]

In the 31st year of the Tenpou (天法) era, the long period of warfare with giant armour known as "Tetsuki" (鉄機(てっき)) was quelled by the Tokugou House (徳轟(とくごう)) who established a shogunate. To maintain this peace, a contest was established under the shogunate's mandate: the Sankin Koutai (参勤鋼對(さんきんこうたい)), a martial arts competition between Tetsuki with the winner being granted whatever they wished. Within this contest there are those who wish to further their own ambitions or merely test their strength amidst this fraying peace. In this country, where the weak are still oppressed by the strong, Kisaragi Kotetsu (如月虎鉄) pilots his Gundam (頑駄無(ガンダム)), Burai (()(らい)) for the sake of the house he once served. The war may be over but the fighting never ends...

Chapters[]

Story 1[]

The people of a remote area are tormented by a local gang, the Kikaigumi (()(かい)(ぐみ)) that uses Tetsuki to threaten and extort the surrounding areas, working under the local Magistrate. As this happens, more and more of their Tetsuki Rokudou ((ろく)(どう)), are brought low by a mysterious "Tetsuki Hunter" who targets their machines, causing an uproar. As the blacksmith Kimoto Suzuno (()(もと)(すず)()) is attacked by one of the gang's Tetsuki, she falls unconscious before she is saved by a mysterious Tetsuki. Soon afterwards the head of a Rokudou is found staked in the middle of Mt. Koori village.

Suzuno awakens, cared for by the wandering ronin Kotetsu Kisaragi and both run into the gang's enforcers who are quickly defeated by Kotetsu. As the two head to her father, the blacksmith Kimoto Dougen (()(もと)(どぅ)(げん)), they encounter the Yosou Kouzan Ouchi village in shambles. The gang has taken their money and rice, as well as demanded the Tetsuki they believe they are hiding, easily defeating their Ashigarou ((あし)(がる)). The gang leader, Jazetsu ((じゃ)(ぜつ)) appears and kidnaps Suzuno in an attempt at forcing her father to reveal the Tetsuki, giving him until dawn to deliver unto him the Tetsuki. Resolute to not return give them the Tetsuki, Dougen resolves to board the Ashigarou again to fight the gang, but is stopped by Kotetsu, who goes in his stead. After a brief confrontation with the gang, Kotetsu calls his own Tetsuki, the Burai, revealing himself to be the Tetsuki Hunter, and dispatches the gang.

In the final moments of the fight, Suzuno compares the Burai to a Gundam, warrior gods whose name was given to legendary Tetsuki of the Genroku era that participated in the Battle of Manjidomoe.
