Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Recollection (機動戦士 ガンダム SEED(ジード) Recollection?, Kidō Senshi Gandamu Shīdo Rekorekushon) is an official interquel story in the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series, released as a main stage in the mobile game SD Gundam G Generation Eternal on April 30th, 2025. Set shortly after the events of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Recollection explores the heightening tensions between Naturals and Coordinators in the aftermath of the First Alliance-PLANT War, setting the stage for the events of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.

Summary[]

In Cosmic Era 71, the mutually assured destruction of the Naturals and the Coordinators was narrowly averted by the intervention of the Three Ships Alliance, bringing the First Alliance-PLANT War to a grinding halt as the weakened Earth Alliance and PLANT declared a ceasefire at the Second Battle of Jachin Due. However, while both parties are in favor of a truce, the interests of Naturals and Coordinators continue to clash against each other, and despite the heroes' hard-earned moment of peace, tensions between the EA and PLANT remain even higher than ever.

Three months pass without a conclusive agreement to end the war. When a ZAFT transport suddenly goes missing near the wreckage of Jachin Due, Alliance and ZAFT forces race to the scene, threatening to reignite their conflict. To solve the mystery and to protect this moment of peace, Kira Yamato and the Clyne Faction sortie once more...

Plot[]

Part 1[]

Following the ceasefire at the end of the Second Battle of Jachin Due, Eileen Canaver ascends to the role of Chairwoman of the Provisional Supreme Council and begins to open peace talks between the Earth Alliance and PLANT, but conflicting interests from both sides stall any attempts at a treaty. Meanwhile, the Three Ships Alliance decides to go their separate ways, with Dearka Elsman and Yzak Joule returning to PLANT, Athrun Zala and Cagalli Yula Athha heading to Earth while Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne remain aboard the Eternal.

Three months later, the ZAFT transport Karman is deployed to reestablish satellite communications when they are betrayed and attacked by rogue ZAFT soldiers, who take the ship hostage. Before Earth Forces and ZAFT troops can reach the Karman's last position, Lacus deploys the Eternal to investigate, with Kira piloting the MBF-03+P208QX DRAGOON Strike to replace his ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam. Near the last sighting of the Karman, Kira is attacked by ZAFT mobile suits led by Meia Shiva, but manages to fend them off. Kira and the Eternal discover the abandoned remains of the Doolittle and determine that Meia's ZAFT squadron has stolen its remaining nuclear warheads.

Andrew Waltfeld explains that Meia was the captain of the Jachin Due First Defense Squad, an extraordinary engineer and war strategist who helped devise Operation Spitbreak. The Eternal locates the Karman, which has been abandoned in Earth's orbit; Lacus deduces that Meia is still in space as the Karman's escape capsule, which now contains the stolen nukes, was released while Meia was fighting Kira. The Eternal tracks down Meia to an innocuous asteroid, where they are confronted by the Zala Faction Remnants, a group of renegade ZAFT soldiers who ascribe to Patrick Zala's desire to kill all Naturals. Meia contacts the Eternal and reveals that she wants revenge after the Bloody Valentine Incident killed her husband and son, ignoring Lacus's pleas for peace.

The crew of the Eternal determines that Meia intends to attack Eileen's shuttle as she returns to Earth for further negotiation, realizing that the approach of a ZAFT ship near Earth would trigger hostilities between the two militaries. The Eternal decides to serve as Eileen's escort; as they approach Earth, Meia and the Zala Faction Remnants attack, but Kira reveals that they have duped Meia into attacking a vacant decoy shuttle. Meia mocks Kira for believing he can stop the cycle of hatred as she detonates the nuke hidden in her mobile suit. On a separate shuttle, Eileen makes her scheduled trip to Earth, having received moral support from Lacus and pardoned the Clyne Faction for their crimes. After returning to the Eternal, Andrew recommends they lay low and relocate to Orb. Lacus joins Kira in the Eternal's hangar and comforts him as he grieves over his inability to stop Meia from killing herself and thanks him for keeping his promise to return to her alive.

Part 2[]

On Earth, Athrun and Cagalli attend peace talks as representatives of Orb's government. During a meeting, Athrun receives a call from Meia, who claims to have taken his name to avenge Athrun's father, the late Patrick Zala. Athrun and Cagalli soon receive a transmission from the Eternal, informing them that Meia has sent a capsule containing nuclear warheads to Earth and asking them to investigate. After receiving the MVF-P11-1428T Murasame Flight-Capable Test Type from Cagalli, Athrun heads to Africa to search for the capsule while Cagalli heads to Nairobi to negotiate peace talks.

In Africa, Athrun discovers that the nuclear warheads have already been retrieved from the Karman's capsule, and that Meia is claiming to be acting under Athrun's command in order to invigorate her troops and spark hostilities with the Earth Alliance. Tracking down the detachment to a seaside base led by Alan Roland, Athrun kills Alan in the ensuing battle, but is unable to stop the Zala Faction Remnants from escaping with the nuke. Athrun realizes that the Zala Faction Remnants intend to fire the nuke on Victoria Base to decimate its Mass Driver, thereby securing PLANT's victory in the event that a second war erupts.

Athrun rushes to Victoria Base to stop the Zala Faction Remnants. The Earth Alliance, having received word of conflict in the area, deploys the YAMF-X4BD Zeigel to defend Victoria Base, forcing Athrun to destroy it. The Zala Faction Remnants fire their nukes at the base, but Athrun manages to stop the missiles before they strike, averting disaster. In the aftermath, the Earth Alliance blames the attacks on a ZAFT splinter faction to avoid disrupting negotiations with PLANT while deciding to keep Athrun and ZAFT activity under watch. Having finished his duty, Athrun heads home while asking Cagalli to join him in Orb.
