The movie premiered in Japanese theaters on 2025-01-17. On the same day, GKIDs announced they had acquired the North American rights to the movie, with a regular release on 2025-02-28 [2]. On 2025-02-06, Japan Society announced the North American premiere would take place on 2025-02-20 [1].

Callbacks to previous Gundam series[]
- The first quarter of the film is a reimagining of "Gundam Rising", with a different outcome;
- The RX-77-02 Guncannon is destroyed in the same way the original RX-78-2 Gundam did to Denim's MS-06F Zaku II.
- Char uses his signature kick on the White Gundam against the RX-78-01 01 Gundam.
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
- The currency Shūji was about pay Nyaan with was Hytes.
- Side 6's TV station is RBC.
Callbacks to GAINAX titles[]
- The assault on Solomon uses the same camera angles as the scene in episode 5 of Gunbuster, when Noriko Takaya and Kazumi Amano escort the decommissioned Exelion through a Space Monster army formation near Jupiter 2.
- Machu's phone shows a website called "Foolypedia", which is a reference to FLCL.
- Machu's home is designed similarly to Misato Katsuragi's apartment in Neon Genesis Evangelion.
