The forces' ascent to the orbiting Abrams is interrupted by Charles Rochester in his OMS-14SRF RF Gelgoog Charles Rochester Type, Lieutenant Wilder attacks in a Heavygun, and is killed. The Abrams fires on Charles with its main guns, and Charles retreats. Bergh mourns Lieutenant Wilder, whom he disliked.

Wesbar claims he's stolen the F90 for the Crossbone Vanguard. Bergh doesn't want to kill Wesbar, but Wesbar attacks him, and Bergh kills him with the F90V's VSBR. Bergh swears that he will never forgive the Crossbone Vanguard.

At the lunar base, Charles Rochester orders the mass driver catapult to fire a rock at the Federation forces It impacts and sinks an unnamed Clop-class battleship. Captain Gardner orders Bergh to deploy in the brand-new F91 Gundam F91.

Charles then broadcasts an ultimatum to the Earth Federation: Recognize the Oldsmobile as an independent state, or else the Oldsmobile will bombard Earth with meteorites from their mass driver. Captain Gardner orders Bergh not to deploy, because the existence of the F91 is being kept secret from the Crossbone Vanguard. Wooder suggests deploying the F91 under heavy Minovsky Particle concentrations, and Gardner agrees, ordering the F91 to deploy and destroy the mass driver. Bergh does so. Charles appears in his Gelgoog, and attacks the F91, but is unable to defeat it. Charles defects from Oldsmobile and flees to the Crossbone's Mobile Fortress, which opens a door to admit him.
