I’m sorry for deleting your edits without an explanation. The reasons I deleted them is because I believe them to be invalid arguments. These is no point past the ending of Seed where we see Kira not being over Flay. As well, there are multiple scenes where we see Kira and Lacus displaying there relationship with other around them, so there not exactly holding back or not progressing. Finally, when Kira goes to save Lacus during GSD ep 39 he clearly displays a greater worry when concerning her safety compared to anyone else. Kira willing to risk his life in difficulty and unknown circumstances does signify Lacus being the most important person to him.
Thank you for actually responding before going further.
However there is every indication by destiny he’s still haunted by the events of Seed. If anything his entire relationship with Lacus seems Chaste compared to every other couple, possibly because of his past with Flay. So it’s hard to say just because he’s living his that he’s moved on. There’s a distinct difference.
Also your argument is missing the point. I’m not arguing he doesn’t care for Lacus or that they are the defacto couple by the end. No one would dispute that. The pages even note they care for each other already. I’m saying she is his second love not necessarily his true love. There’s is nothing to indicate his love for Flay was any less meaningful. Your argument of of his feelings for Lacus because he went To save her and has scenes with her, could also Be applied to Flay, who is arguably his “main” love interest for most of Seed.
Keep in mind he also went out of his way to save her.
So with Flay as his first love and Lacus as his second, he doesn’t really have “one true love” (which in itself is a cheesy and unrealistic claim to make), because both are important. Just because he wound up with Lacus doesn’t take away what he had with Flay, just like just because he had more passion with Flay doesn’t diminish Lacus. To put it simply one serves as Gwen Stacy and one is MJ.
So to sum it up it’s not invalid arguments at all. I removed the “one true love” edit because it’s unrealistic and out of place and the “moved on” edit because as his shellshocked self in Destiny shows that’s not true. As the page is it notes he cares deeply for Lacus and they are in a relationship, so i believe it’s fine.
I think your the only one who’d make that argument. By Destiny he’s far more withdrawn and distant than when he’s started in Seed. Thankfully he’s a still good person. Handling Trauma and living your life doesn’t mean you’ve moved on.
In Zeta Amuro may be chilling in a mansion, but he hasn’t moved on. Same with Kira.
He handles it well by staying calm and not allowing the trama to ruin his life. While being distant, he still cares about other people no less. To expect him to be exactly like he was before the war is unrealistic. I think he handled it in a much healthier manner than most people in his position would.
Oh I agree. Especially compared others like Amuro who can be a dick or Kamille who lashed out, Kira handles his issues probably the best. He will always care for and protect others regardless of his own issues.
