Mercury is the first planet in the Solar System.

Overview

Mercury is home to a colony where the mineral permet, an important material used in cutting edge technologies, is mined using drones. Living conditions on Mercury are harsh, with immense heat from the sun scorching its surface on one side and freezing temperatures reaching below -100° Celcius on its darker side. Mining bases with residential areas, such as the Chao Meng-Fu Mining Base, are situated in areas with safer living conditions on the surface. Miners live inside the bases and leave its premises in mobile suits when conducting mining activities. Non-miners generally reside in the Mercury Orbital Base PebiColombo 23 instead. Though protected from the surface's dangerous environments, they are still exposed to the sun's solar flares as the base orbits the planet .

Mercury's colonists are regarded elsewhere as unsophisticated miners, with the majority of the population being of older age. The planet is also the headquarters of the Shin Sei Development Corporation, a subsidiary of the Benerit Group and manufacturer of the XVX-016 Gundam Aerial. They sustain themselves through trade with the Earth sphere with Prospera Mercury serving as the corporation's representative .

Its demonym was Mercurian , and it also had its own unit of timekeeping, the Mercurian year .
