The Medea is a transport aircraft that appears in Mobile Suit Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, and Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The Medea was a class of transport plane used by the Earth Federation Forces. Loading and unloading time has been reduced by using a large detachable cargo container underneath the main body. The Medea's considerable capacity made it suited for supplying the frontlines. Its low-pressure tires allowed it to land on irregular surfaces, and it featured rotors which granted it VTOL capability, enabling it to take off and land without a runway. The Medea was initially used to transport cargo, but during the One Year War its cargo container was increasingly used to transport multiple mobile suits, which could be airdropped. The Medea was minimally armed with a pair of anti-air machine guns, which provided little means of self-defense.

History[]
The Medea Transport Plane was used by the Earth Federation throughout the One Year War and beyond. During the war, they were utilized to carry supplies and eventually mobile suits to all corners of the World, making the Medea a vital resource to their war effort.
During the One Year War, the Medea supply corps was headed by Lieutenant Matilda Ajan, a female E.F.F. officer who had a knack for being in the right place at the right time and often served as an envoy for General Revil. Matilda often piloted a Medea herself and usually was the one to bring supplies to White Base. She would lead the Medea supply corps during many important moments in the war, such as Operation Odessa, where she lost her life while attempting to protect White Base from Zeon's Black Tri-Stars team by ramming her Medea into one of their MS-09B Dom.
Another variant of the Medea was also known to exist during the One Year Year, the C-88 Medea which features better aerodynamics and better speed but lacked VTOL capability and had no armaments.
By U.C. 0087, the Medea was still in use, but it was overshadowed by the larger Garuda-class transport plane.
