The Marseille III-class is a transport ship in introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
Built by the Earth Alliance, the Marseille III-class was designed as a transport vessel to ship cargo and personnel in space. Since it is only a transport ship, the Marseille III-class isn't equipped with any weaponry, although it can carry mobile suits and mobile armors. As the vessel lacks a catapult system, the mobile weapons are deployed through the hangar hatch at the front of the ship.
Special Equipment & Features[]
- Manipulator Arms
- One modified vessel, the H.O.M.E. was equipped with eight manipulator arms for salvage operations, as well as a pinball flipper-like catapult on the upper hull. In emergencies, the crew sometimes used them to hurl salvaged debris from the ship's cargo bay at attackers.
History[]
In January, C.E. 71, one ship of this class was used by the Atlantic Federation to bring the test pilots for the five G Project mobile suits to the neutral colony of Heliopolis, where the project was being undertaken. Also onboard were two TS-MA2 Moebius, as well as the "Hawk of Endymion" Mu La Flaga and his TS-MA2mod.00 Moebius Zero. However, the ship was followed by ZAFT's Creuset Team, who eventually attacked the colony and stole four of the five G Project units.[1] In the ensuing battle, the ship lost control after being damaged, and was destroyed after crashing into the colony.[2]
Another Marseille III-class fell into the hands of a Junk Guild group led by a mysterious woman known only as "The Professor." The remaining crew are Junk Guild technicians Lowe Guele, Liam Garfield, and Kisato Yamabuki. This ship, called H.O.M.E., was modified by the group for use in their salvage operations. After a salvage operation at the destroyed colony Heliopolis, the H.O.M.E. acquired the MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame, and became a target for many people who desired the advanced mobile suit. Eventually, the ship was damaged beyond repair after a battle with the MBF-P01 Gundam Astray Gold Frame forced it into Earth's atmosphere. The crew of the H.O.M.E. then utilized the salvaged land battleship, the Lesseps, for use on Earth until returning to space and acquiring the Re.H.O.M.E..
