Marcos (マルコス Marukosu?) is a character from the movie Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island.
History[]
Marcos is a teenage boy, one of twenty war orphans who lives on the island of Alegranza along with Zeon deserter Cucuruz Doan. When Doan first met Marcos six months prior he was frail, a prisoner of war forced to clear land mines for Zeon's Earth Invasion Force, but now he is filling out. Marcos and Cara, as the oldest children, do much of the decision making and delegation of chores to the other children, while Marcos performs most of the hardest physical labor.
Marcos develops an instant rivalry with Amuro Ray when Doan takes him in, because he believes he can use the RX-78-02 Gundam to protect their island, but Doan tries to disabuse him of that notion. After Amuro helps them repair the generator, which provides their home with electricity, the two set their distrusts aside just as a rescue team from the White Base and Zeon's Southern Cross Corps simultaneously arrive at Alegranza and begin to battle. Marcos helps Amuro to recover the Gundam from the cove in which Doan had hidden it, even saving him from drowning.
